David Hurt: WHO needs the ef-s 24mm lens, when there is already an EF 24mm 2.8 IS Lens?? I do NOT own & Never will own Any ef-s lenses.

Quick Canon! Halt the production of the EF-S 24mm immediately!! David Hurt doesn't want one which means nobody else in the entire world would possibly want one either!

Thorgrem: The 400mm isn't a L type? And therefore lacks the red ring?

Dr_Jon - I meant the build quality of the 400 DO II

Canon DO lenses have a green ring, the build quality is the same as the L series lenses.

Being part of the green ring club is more exclusive than the red ring club!

peevee1: "The EF 24-105mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM will be available in December for $599.99. "

24-105/4L is available for $600 off kits all the time on ebay.

Just wait until the 'white box' version floods the market

Anastigmat: Does the market still exist for a high end APS-C model costing almost 2000 dollars in 2014?

Not everyone wants a full frame camera with the big and expensive lenses!

APS-C cameras also have wider AF point coverage vs the clustered AF points in the middle of the frame on the full frame cameras, and the crop factor is beneficial to those who shoot sports, wildlife, aviation etc.

igorek7: @dpreview staff

Minimum shutter speed is 60 minutes (not 60 sec)!

http://www.panasonic.com/uk/consumer/cameras-camcorders/lumix-g-compact-system-cameras-dslm/dmc-gh4eb.specs.html

It is also specifically mentioned in the Panasonic "Picture quality" description: "Plus, superior noise reduction allows max. 60 min long exposure"

60 Second is the minimum shutter speed before going into Bulb mode and the 60 minute long exposure is the limit shooting in Bulb mode.

fz750: I can get that it's a pretty good and cheap prime for a 6D/5D, but it's mostly being sold as packages with the 100d/60d/700D which somehow doesn't make sense..?

Anyway, good to have a lens review :-)

@Thorbard It' a EF lens so it's compatible with all EOS cameras, not just APS-C

Juck: I'm a canon fan,, but really ,, a slight improvement in live view AF is no justification for launching a new model. DP should have given it a Bronze on principal.

We look at pictures of photojournalists carrying around multiple Leica rangefinders in the past, will we look back in 50 years from now and see the photojournalists of today carrying around multiple smartphones?

You would be crazy to try to become a professional photographer these days, something to think about for all those who are about to graduate and are thinking about their career options.....

(unknown member): And wedding photographers ask way too much money! And they won't even give you the disk with all their images on it once you've paid them! Photographers have such nerve charging for something that any idiot with an working right hand can do. Here's their training in a nutshell: "Put the big dial on the big green square and go take Pulitzer Prize winning photos!" or "Take out your phone, turn on your Instagram app, and it's magic time!" This should be really, really interesting. When the visual element of their publication turns into a burning pile of cow dung, maybe they'll realize that photographers do need to be skilled and experienced.

Green square mode is for amateurs! everyone knows you put it into P 'professional' mode.....
