Always enjoy reading his lens test and disassembly.

Roger,

You're even smarter than I thought !

G,

I could not deduce that you had darkened the background (acceptable in this case of the pursuit of art, IMNSHO) thus taking the pic out of NatGeo strict standards, but give me my due as I did nail it that YOU were NatGeo worthy.
I look forward to viewing your gallery, and other challenge entries.

B
ps Tho I do not own it, I have many times been impressed with the Tamron capabilities.

Superb, j !

A hands down 1st for your magnificent capture of this flash moment of nature's power and its scale . . . complete with bird in flight.
April showers bring May flowers, as the ditty goes, and apparently,
great pics too.

(pleeez don't tell me the birdie was added in post, Ha).

Ben Raven: HELLO, SONY -- A7r Electronic First Curtain Update !
PRONTO !

Get on this same EFC shutter firmware update for the A7r.
You've already got it in the A7 . . .

Let us say 'Ba-Bye' to shutter shock and clunk-clunk.

Thank you for your prompt attention.

Thanks guys.

I have not yet abandoned all hope tho, read on:

** The estimable Lloyd Chambers had proposed another fix to Sony:
(Perhaps THIS is possible thru firmware update)
-- Set 2 second self-timer
-- Press shutter button (or use remote)
-- Shutter immediately closes, vibrations die down in the 2 secs.
-- when exposure occurs, shutter opens
VOILA !
Explained better than I here:
http://diglloyd.com/blog/2013/20131220_3-SonyA7R-shutter-vibration.html

Or, A7r owners could simply screw in
a 20 pound depleted uranium billet -- Done and done!

LLOYD, OH DIGLLOYD . . .
do you hear me in cyber space:
Have You Heard Anything From Sony ?
I think I may call out to him from the Sony E forum too.

BB,
Are you saying that sony HAS explained why ?
If true, that would be news to me.

I, as a pending A7r purchaser, and several friends who own A7r's have been carefully following the EFC shutter shock Saga, and none of us are aware of Sony saying anything one way or the other about it.
Where did you see that ?

Congrats, well done, R !

Compelling artistically, and real life wise.

Am I right in seeing that this is the childhood world and playground
of poor, possibly homeless, children at play in "their" dump ? Where ?

cjf2,

Starting with the fact that this is a head-on 400mm shot of a bird in flight (!), congrats on rising to the considerable technical and real world challenges -- in order to achieve a most impressive purity and elegance of image !

Kudos on a bullseye hit on the challenge.

Well deserved win, grapher !

A fresh vision in what could have been just the 'same old same old'.

Love the juxtaposition of the vibrance of the colorful, glistening nylon sheathed legs, and shiny shoes set against the dark, drab, rusty old stairway -- Kudos !
