I really think the drobo is looking like the best solution for me. I will also have the data backed up on other hdd and the cloud. I like the idea of a massive data pool. I currently have 2x2tb and ...
  • Replied in Drobo or......
I am currently an aperture user. I am on the fence about switching fully, I have been running both simultaneously. Currently have 1.2tb of images, but also have about 1.5tb of movies too. I will be ...

I am after a direct attached storage drive for my imac. Thunderbolt would be preferred. I am looking at the drobos. But I see very mixed reviews of these units. I am ideally after a 4 bay unit or ...
  • I would have thought its best to compare at the apertures shown on lenses. As the equivalent apertures you show only give equal depth of field. The exposure of a 28mm 2.8 is equal regardless of ...
  • Isn't there a restriction on max shutter speed when shooting wide open? That could be causing it. "We ran into some issues in bright sunlight when shooting in aperture and shutter priority modes, ...

  • My bad on that one. I am an aperture user. Assumed as they shared libraries the functionality would be the same with regards to referenced and managed. Seems stupid to allow referenced but no way ...
  • There should be a consolidate masters option. Which will change them to managed.
  • I'm not sure if iPhoto can do this but aperture allows me to insert the sd card in, import photos to library but the photos are referenced and aperture automatically puts them into date folders ...
  • It's not an issue I have ever had when uploading from aperture. So I can't really comment on it. Does seem odd though.
  • Make sure your looking at the express version price not the full. Express is showing as 69 euros. Also has a nice long trial period.
  • Replied in buy Aperture
In response to moving iPhoto to aperture. All you need to do is open the library. All your pics and how your organise them will transfer. Makes it very simple.
  • I am currently switching from a Mac Pro which died. So I have a master drive for images, a external backup and all is backed up to crashplan. I plan on keeping my images also on a portable ...
  • Just to add. For the synology I do already have 2x2tb drives and 2x1tb dives which would go in. So makes the price difference much less between the two.
  • Thanks for that. Hadn't even considered that as an option. Will look into that? Do you have experience with it?
