  • V1 and 30-110mm.
  • I experimented to loose the noise by stacking few V1 images taken with tripod. See the result. Can you find noise - even if you adjust gamma or sharpen the image? boring subject but at least there...
  • January in South Finland. 2 persons plan to drill hole in lake ice for fishing. Is that forest file or perhaps sun.
  • Colorful 2-wheelers. V1 + 30-110mm.
  • very nice, bright light and clean colors bring the feeling of clear, sunny day.
  • I had first D5100 but was never happy with its size, dark viewfinder, kit zoom and video quality. After getting V1, that big DSLR is pretty much retired. I use it sometimes inside if I need better...
  • Created discussions ETTR with V1
I often use ETTR (exposure to the right) ie. overexposure when taking raw images. Raw converter I use, (RawTherepee), has good tools to automatically adjust the exposure back almost right and tools...

Lovely set of images. I wish I could live in a warm sunny country or travel more (read even sometimes). Technically, I think some of the pictures look a bit overprocessed. With different tuning I...
  • Strange, I have been specially attracted by high build quality of my V1. It's solid like a tank to me. One of my friends is complaining how his bigger and more expensive camera is falling parts,...
  • Created discussions V1 superb image quality
Some people state Nikon 1 IQ poor. I have found it very high in my needs if we keep ISO low 100-200. My target is to buy a 4k TV when they get cheaper and then look at my images 100% size. For that...
  • Noirist, did you use 30p or 60i/p in Nikon V1 and Sony RX100?  In my view 60i footage is V1 is much better than 30p, sharper and less aliasing/moire. I don't have RX100 though.
  • nice picture. How did you get it so clean with ISO3200?
  • Created discussions Can you do this?
Isn't there quite big DoF for 115mm/F4 equivalent small tele in this picture? The trick is that either my V1 or 30-110mm are somehow misaligned and the focus plane is uneven (sharper close in...
  • Only way to turn off the image preview is to shoot in video mode. There are some limitations like it takes only jpegs, 16*9 aspect ratio and not possible to use longer shutter speeds than 1/60 s....
  • metering lag is much smaller if you select center weight or spot metering. It is slow only in multi-meter mode. Anyway, multimeter mode gives best accuracy if you can wait that 2-3 seconds.
  • I like V1 because of big battery and small files which convert faster from raw to jpeg and take smaller disk space. Also the design is cool, it doesn't raise much attention when shooting among on...
  • I think this is very much about personal preferences. One likes film experience and other likes video. Long time ago, before any proper home video cameras/TVs, I went to movies occasionally and...
  • Replied in yep yep.
In computer I watch my videos with windows mediaplayer since it gives by far the smoothest experience in my setup, Intel Core i5 and integrated graphics. VLC and Potplayer gives somehow jerky...
  • Replied in Sharp motion
This information made me try out again the difference of panning video sharpness with and without motion enhancement setting in my LCD TV (4 years old Samsung 100Hz 46" TV). Panning scenes of my...
