tecnoworld: Samsung has:1) a dslr like body with evf w/o phisical controls (galaxy nx)2) a slightly smaller dslr like body with evf (nx30)3) a smaller rangefinder body w/o evf (nx300)4) an even smaller body w/o evf and w/o physical controls (nx2000)
There will possible be a micro body during 2014.
So what's missing? The body I'd personaly want: one similar to #3, but with evf on the left (or at least with an optional evf to be added).
This is a huge lack, since sony, fuji and m4/3 all have this kind of product.
@samfan EVF in the middle is a classic that is adequate for people that use the right eye and also for those that use the left eye for composing a photo.
dpmaxwell: "Samsung says that its designers spent a lot of time designing the grip..."
I think they mean - spent a lot of time COPYING the grip...
Hah, I kid, I kid, relax folks. Samsung doesn't copy things from other manufacturers... *cough* 16-50 power zoom *cough*
@dpmaxwell Go find a cure for your *tuberculosis*.!
itsastickup: " its detail is unnecessarily high"
There's an illogic going on here.
"The demon is in the details" ...
rb59020: So let me get this straight, these two "cameras" are actually "cameras" that can take stills, do video up to 4k are light and cost less than $400.00?
Why dump this product on the "connect" site, but continuously waste space on dpreview's main site with articles on overpriced cell phones that nobody reads?
I got an email from B&H about this product a couple of days ago, and already pre-ordered the black. iPhone 5? Not so much.
GoPro fisheye is not a drawback it is a "feature". Love it! have the H3 Silver and H3 Black.
SeeRoy: An old friend who is the head of photography at a very large international NGO (they shoot Canon, mainly) bought the earlier version as it seemed to "tick all the boxes" (ugh) for a lightweight camera to issue for non-critical assignments. It didn't take them long to realise the camera was over-hyped and generally unsatisfactory on many counts. Now there's an "improved" version. We just keep falling for the same old marketing swindles.
Maybe he is an old head without a brain. . .
Gesture: Need a Samsung on the list.
Samsung 20MP NX1000 with 20-50mmm kit about U$D300.00 seems a good deal (ordered one). Samsung lenses are not that expensive and very good too (nice pancakes and that 20-50mm is collapsible and very sharp). Also, the NX 's UI is great. Samsung's marketing need to improve to support some editors, media, etc, then It will get listed any day, and then, maybe, some prejudices will be broken.
IMO most of those pics would be better without the WA adapter. I have the X100 for a month and is great not worring about lens, adapters, etc. Take it and go! It is an wonderful machine as it is.
Don't worry and go ahead! There are lots of lunatics wishing to enter in this lunar system!
D1N0: Nik software also has some excellent adobe plugins. Hopefully these will not suffer.
Beaware of apps! They know more about your life(style) than you! Google interest is in collecting info about users for taking economical advantages. Prize your privacy and attention when installing APPs!
DanCart: is it me or does that camera look very anorexic ?Maybe I should start a campaign saying "no to size 0 cameras" ! LOL !!!.....
It is you!
StevenE: why not make the other half as well?
Because that would cost more 67$ and most of the people don't have the whole budget. Conclusion: be happy with the half thing when you can't afford the whole thing! 8-/
JackM: I will wait until more fast pancake primes are available before I consider this camera, as they are the only lenses worth using on such a camera. The bulky zooms make these types of cameras no more portable than a Rebel.
Also no PASM dial is an insult. Give me that plus a shutter speed dial and/or an exposure compensation dial. It is odd that my S100 has more direct manual controls than this camera.
Maybe PASM and other dials in the more advanced models to come? hope so. This model is just the beginning of the Canon Mirrorless system. Not for me.
QuarterToDoom: Not knocking the gear in any way but nothing in those photos indicates that they can't be taken with anything from P&S to the most expensive DSLR. I'd rather see an article to show what experienced photogs can do with a P&S camera.
What matters is not just the final output (a photo) but the whole "individual photographic experience". I think that the authors were not just showing photos taken with a Leica gear but how photos are taken with a Leica gear with its pros/cons. For some people taking a picture with a Leica is not just taking a picture!www.sergiodelucena.com/blog
itsastickup: There's something wrong with the photo above.
Yeah! and the nose looks very strange! Bad pp.
Yomama: It took Samsung 2.5 months to start shipping after the news release and on the internet, all the reviews are just previews. it is priced between a NEX5n & NEX7 and no in-depth review during the time!! To me that's bad marketing/distribution/pricing all at the same time. NX system is actually a system a lot of people want to have because it has an APS-C sensor with 3 pancake lenses (16, 20, 30). All Samsung has to do is improve it's focusing speed and housed a sensor that produces usable ISO between 3200-6400... so 20M sensor is a mistake. I think the pricing is for enthusiasts but the marketing is targeting for general public.... ouch!!
It would be great a very clean iso 50000...and the NX needs to have a nightvision optical viewfinder too... NO nightvision OVF NO BUY!!!I am very interested in taking some nighty Birds In Flight! It is very challenging to take PHOTOgraphy when there is no photons at all to be captured...
snow14: WOW canon just made my dream camera with this baby,i have the money for it but i don't thing i can justify buying it or can I? I will be thinking so hard about it.Thanks canon.
If you are thinking about buying It you can't afford it!
Old news.Amazing technology!
Jesus! It seems that this nikon announcement became a joke!Give nikon a chance in the mirrorless arena. . .
Good job Samsung! I have all NX (10, 11, 100).Now you need to know how to have a good customer service. Is anyone out there who had emails to Samsung answered? Also It is almost impossible to find a place to shop any accessories, extra batteries, lenses, etc. In fact, Samsung accessories seem just virtual. Too bad. :-(
