Well you'll be pleased to know this is probably my final word on Raw Files and the Canon G1X..... I have just received the following "explanation" from Corel Customer service which says in part ".....As I mentioned, PSP just decodes the RAW file faithful and the vignetting will show up in some specific focal length. For LR, they had "Auto Lens Correction" function and will apply correct lens correct to the raw file but PSP/ASP not. The reason is why we said it's not an issue but a lacked feature. Sorry for making confusion and hopefully you can accept my explanation...."
Not what I was told before...(they said it was a bug they could fix)...but anyway if you want to use it with a G1X... maybe you should foreget about RAW files and use JPEG !!!

bennito42: Updaqte as at 29th October re Corel Paint Shop Pro X5 and AfterShot Pro. Both products still exhibit drastic vignetting / distortion when downloading wide angle RAW files taken with Canon G1X. Finally Corel have closed this file , as they said "...due to no activity for the last 10 days... Interesting !! there was no communication from Corel during tha t time that any action from their end was contemplated. I have tested both Lightroom 4 and Photoshop Elements 11 - these two Adobe products appear to handle these files correctly. I'd be interested to hear of anyone else who've experienced similar problems with these Corel products.
p.s. A letter (not email) was forwarded to the company's head office some time ago - at the time of posting to this forum (surprise, surprise) I have received no response.

The saga with PSP X5 continues after 6 months of trying to get this software to work correctly with G1X RAW Files. . IMHO selling this product knowing that there is a bug in the system is False advertising. I am continuing with this matter as one of principle. Why isn't this company listening to their customers. All one can say is Caveat Emptor - BUYER BEWARE

Corel has of the 13/11/2012 closed my case re G1X Raw Files - said it may be resolved with a service pack at a later date !!
well the "later date" is too late. Back to Adobe P.E.11

Update on above ; I reopened the case with Corel re RAW files issues with the Canon G1X.... the company asked ( in part) the following " Let me just clarify some points, is Canon GX1 a full-frame sensor camera? Is the lens interchangeable? If yes, what lens are you using?..."
Interesting when a software mnufacturer hasn't got the details on hand of the specifications of the camera !!!

John McCormack: I got an email from Corel offering X5 for $59.99 as an upgrade (I have X4 now.) Will X5 replace AfterShot Pro? Rumor has it that AfterShot Pro may die a slow death. AfterShot is the best RAW converter for the money and much faster and easier to use than LightRoom. I hope ASP stays around. Doubt I'll give X5 a try until they drop the upgrade price.

"...Aftershot Pro is the best RAW converter..."... you're half
right (maybe) . Like PSP5 ASP works fine with RAW files from Canon 5D, but cannot handle RAW files from Canon G1X.... be sure to "try before you buy.."

4 weeks gone bye... Contacted Corel & have opened two (2) Case reports...... Still no answer as to why Raw files from Canon G1X (wide angle lens settings) show marked vignetting and distortion. ( refer to my previous comments a month ago)

Thanks for that most constructive reply.... I would've expected something more intelligent on these pages !!!

Recently I trialled Lightroom 4 and found no problems in downloading and editing RAW files from Canon G1X. However using both PaintShop Pro X5 and Corel AfterShot Pro, I have encountered unacceptable vignetting and distortion ( most apparent at wide angle zoom ).
The only way I could overcome this was to download my Raw G1X files directly to my computer, use Adobe DNG , convert them before editing in PSP 5.
One can only hope this can be fixesd quickly.
On the other hand I have found the ease of use, and the actual editing features excellent.

abi170845: Why no 14mmzoom f2.8 FF like Nikon? or high End EF-S weather seal as an L zoom in the 24-150 I.S f4?

"Stop making lenses that of little use.... and the 70-300 "
Why is everyone so negative these days ....if you don't lkke the new lens then don't buy them....ther are other compatable lens on the market. Anyway for what it's worth , apart from a couple of L series lens I've also got the 70 - 300USM IS Canon lens, and I think it's great.... so there..... it's horses for courses you know !!!

As I currently own both Canon 5D and G 12..... I know what my next upgrades will be..... the Canon GX 1 and (if and when released) Canon 5D Mk 111
I've invested too amny dollars in Canon lens and accessories to "downgrade" to an APC sensor.
