Greg VdB: Ok, it was cute the first time you reported it four weeks ago, but DPR (and the dad!) are milking it now...

Canon had, just before this story went to press, announced a full sponsorship program to encourage toddlers to embrace image making right out of the womb, and were reportedly developing a camera system for newborns to capture their actual birth, and post it on youtube for the world to rejoice in, although they did mention some technical challenges ahead, especially in terms of potential waterproofing issues.

Today, Chester Metcalf, a spry 2 year old from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, revealed that he had been shooting portraits of his family ever since he started to walk. The earliest images just captured his parents knees, but he soon learned to venture higher and record his take on what his mother describes as "faces in the dark".
His father Buzz said, upon seeing the imagery, "Who knew someone so small could have such talent!" Some of the images were somewhat off in terms of focus and framing, but local photographers were surprised at the sense of innocence his portraits captured…..and were setting up a Kickstarter account to bring this previously unknown talent to a larger audience. They all agreed that by age 3, his images would be gracing the walls of galleries, and National Geographic would be sending him up the Amazon to shoot previously
unknown tribes.

petestone: So let's see.....

Not only does the user created content get dumped to the bottom of the "Articles" section without any category organisation.....but the tags don't work!
DPreview is really doing all they can to encourage users to post content....don't you think? I know things are still "in beta"....but how hard is it to get things right?
Right now....it's looking like a rather amateurish effort!

Ok...I'll anxiously await the improvements.......

The designation N.D. 3.0 comes from the fact that 0.3 density equals 1 stop light reduction. Therefore 3.0 would represent 10 times this amount of light reduction.
Using a filter like this in daylight to capture lightning is an interesting idea....
Let me know if you give it a try!

petestone: Alright...I just noticed that my article is visible below the categories list under "community articles" without any reference to the category it was written for.
So what's the point in listing it in any category when it is written?
This seems rather pointless.........!
Either respect the writers who post helpful articles for free by placing them in the appropriate categories.....or create a " community category" section for them
as you do for your previous authors.
This seems like a significant oversight!

Thanks, Simon.
I think this new "user generated" content shouldn't just be all jumbled together. The easier it is for people to find specific info on what they want....the more people will write it.

How long before an article is "published" before it shows up.....?
It seems to take longer than a forum post......mine is still not visible hours later....
Thanks,
Pete Stone
