Steve,
You've done a good job in pointing out relative strengths and weaknesses in all four of the compacts you are considering. Any of the four compacts will serve you well, if you know what...

Why will those interested in a small ILC run away from this? I very much like m4/3, but there are times when an APS-C sensor will do better, all other things about the camera being equal. I can...

I also have the Fuji brown leather case for my X100. It's a great case, but is limited because it allows for no accessories on the lens -- certainly not the Wide Conversion Lens or the Lens Hood;...

@Kinematic Digit Thank you, Mr. Lam, for your report. It provides clarity on some questions I had about this update.
-
The X100 is a tremendous camera, absolutely perfect for street photography. And while not ideal for portraiture, you can use it for this if you understand the characteristics of its focal length....
-
+1I too have the hard leather case (the expensive Fuji one, though) and quite like it. Like you, I can use the camera in half-case mode in order to be always ready to shoot, while keeping the top...

I have seen this very case before, and it was not OEM. Perhaps it was a knock-off of an OEM case, but I have been unable to find any such OEM case on the Fuji website or on sites like Adorama.

The latest firmware is absolutely essential with the original x100. It has made a significant difference in the performance of this little gem of a camera.

Agreed. I would have liked to see Aperture included because so many of us use it.
-
The introduction to the article specifically mentioned that one of the criteria for being included in this review was that the program run on both Windows and Mac. Since Aperture is a Mac-only...

Fascinating. This will be something to watch. I anticipate the X100S' release keenly.

Quite right, Rattymouse. The proof will be in the pudding. We'll have to wait and see.Still, it's quite encouraging to see just how keenly Fuji listened to our criticisms and those of reviewers....
-
Rattymouse has hit the nail right on the head. I've been hesitant to pull the trigger on purchasing the X-E1 because of its less than stellar autofocus. I own the X100, and even with the...

I have not experienced anything similar with my XZ-2.
-
I bought an XZ-2 a month ago to serve as my point-and-shoot backup camera, and gave my Canon G11, which previously served in the backup role, to my son. Since you asked only about jpeg image...
-
Quite nice, Henry! Thanks for sharing. You've given us a nice picture of colorful life in NZ!
-
I'm going to buy an XZ-2 today. Amazon offers several optional warranties from a company called Square Trade: a 4 year warranty against hardware failures or a 2 year warranty against hardware...
