I am currently using a 7D with 17-55 lens for taking photographs of large groups, posed on stage average people in a shot is 50.  Would I be better with a 6D.

I shoot manually quite a lot with the 7D.  I set my speed and stop as I wish and let the camera set the ISO , works like a charm.

Obviously just export the few you require - after processing. Am I missing something here??

Why convert at all? - Just use LR 4.1. They remain as RAW for ever and print from there. -- JJef
