Just got a message that my entry was disqualified...Thank you, but to be honest, the rules were not REAL clear that the sky had to be part of the photograph. Yes, I know, it said, "flying in the sky"... "Technically", if you look in the water, the sky WAS showing... :)
Somehow, this doesn't seem to fit the rule "NO MAJOR PHOTOSHOPPING"...
is this a repro of a magazine or another photo? When you zoom in, it is VERY pixelated/noisy.
Great looking photo...except I do not think it fits within the parameters of the challenge..."no HDR"...
LOVE it! The person in the doorway really anchors the whole composition!
So...is this a photograph of a piece of art? Is it a photograph of a real window with major photoshopping done? My suspicions are that this one, although VERY cool looking, does not fall within the guidelines of this challenge...but that is just my opinion...
Personally, I find that EVERY sunset that I can capture (whether it is in my memory or in a photo) is a GIFT! We should never take for granted a new sunrise!
HisKid257: I like the idea of this challenge. However, I am a little confused as to the allowance of SCANNED images. How is that showing the skills of the photographer?...Just wondering...
(Lightbulb goes off)...A-HA!!!!!

FNG303: wikipedia : Pax Americana (Latin for "American Peace") is a term applied to the historical concept of relative peace in the Western Hemisphere and later the Western world resulting from the preponderance of power enjoyed by the United States starting around the turn of the 19th to 20th century.I think that you will be very happy if you take a look at the next challenge.
Actually, your description and explanation here is wonderful. The problem I had was that there was NO explanation given as to excluding entrants from the U.S. Thank you, truly, for giving the explanation. That helps a GREAT deal! :)
Interesting how this challenge is in a series entitled "Diversity"...and it does NOT allow entries from the U.S. Why is that? Any explanation to go along with that seemingly random (or is purposeful) omission?...This smacks of a VERY political tone...just leaves me wondering about the validity of these challenges...
"Mom...turn around!...You should SEE this sunset!"
"Terrible" is in the eye of the beholder I think. This was done to highlight the "sky crane". I agree, however, it probably could use a tad less vignetting! :)
STUNNING image...LOVE the composition and the coloring!!! FANTASTIC!!!
AMAZING how life is "born" from the most awful circumstances!
