Replied in D800 should be moved to the amateur forum
You're a credit to the community
A great example of the inclusiveness and friendliness that pervades these boards, not a hint of self high regard at the expense of others

Replied in D80 - Can't mirror lock up!
As said below
You do it this way and you will end up with more dust not less, plus the dust you remove gets attracted back to the sensor
Silliest idea I ever heard to take a 30 second picture...

Replied in raw vs jpg
As John says - no such thing as unprocessed
When you output as JPG the camera processes according to the settings you have specified in camera controls
It's like taking high contrast B&W...

Replied in lets see some high iso from d800
Lance B - Absolutely superb shots - stunning!
-
Replied in Dynamic Range with the D800 - shadows versus highlights in exposures
Mine hasn't arrived yet but the overwhelming consesus seems to be that there is less flexibility to recover highlight but far far more flexibility to recover shadow detail than the D700 (and so...

Replied in Tamron 90mm, nice and sharp.
Not fast enough for street imo
Has a focus limiter but still not what anybody would call fast
It's a cheap lens with great optics

Replied in Tamron 90mm, nice and sharp.
+1 for the tokina 12-24 as well
Built like a tank, plenty sharp enough - decent close focus also
Tamron great lens, v sharp after f5.6 but not very robust -especially AF with the push -pull...

Replied in What causes this?
Mostly likely corrupt card
If your images aren't critically important - ie if you could handle losing shots without too many problems - then format the card properly and try again
Also check...

Replied in AF thru a chain link fence
Sorry for even more...
You say you wouldn't be able to track the animal manually because of eyesight - as said there is a green light to tell you when it is in focus - but that shot could be...
-
Replied in AF thru a chain link fence
Also it seems that you may also have shutter button still activated as AF on so when you take the shot it re-centres
Try to acquire focus with button half depressed and then click
But with...

Replied in AF thru a chain link fence
AF set to closest point focus? Dynamic area?
Dont understand why for a difficult shot people think the camera knows what you want to focus on - either correct it manually (eyes dont matter you...
-
Replied in Obnoxious rich hacks posting mediocre images...
I get the feeling that the important thing was not to make the point admonishing somebody for envy but to have an opportunity to mention that you have a 'comprehensive Leica system'
Envy may be...

Replied in D800 and the Nikon 35mm 2.0D
I always check out Bjorn's comments on lenses in addition to other sources
He thinks highly of it (the AIS version not so much the newer AF version)
(if you want to see other nikon lens...

Commented on Nikon D800 wins Camera Grand Prix 2012 award and public 'best camera' vote news story
@KSV The D800 isn't just for amateurs, it will be used by pros who do not need FPS. FPS is useless for most except sports pros and spray and pray amateurs The extra MP give more detail when...

Commented on Nikon D800 wins Camera Grand Prix 2012 award and public 'best camera' vote news story
Of course it's compromised. If the camera limited because it subscribed to the purist philosophy you seem to want then it will surely impact on flexibility You said that the D700 is plenty so if...

Replied in Here are high ISO some samples
Really dont know how you cant see the blue magenta shift in the 12800 image
Open both and compare the bottom left corner for example

Replied in If you want three legs there is only one place to go
You dont have to - they have US distributors
and from the reviews I've read they should be considered

Commented on Nikon D800 wins Camera Grand Prix 2012 award and public 'best camera' vote news story
Nikon may have simply played catch up but there's few other cameras out there that evidently can keep up with it now But I dont get the vitriol in trying to denigrate a camera that seems pretty...

You edited this? Would hate to see how nonsensical it was before

Or how many people can vote for a different camera as being best without comparing it to a D800?
