Well I certainly hope this isn't your last visit to this site :-)
Thank you for supplying the technical details which, in addition to your excellent photos, makes your contribution a great read....

My best tip is to relax and enjoy the camera.
Otherwise:
1. Turn off ADL (active D-lighting) P137
2. Iso Sensitivity Settings/Auto/Auto/Slower-Faster P107
The page numbers refer to the D600 manual...

Easier, do a Google search:
D600 oil on sensor: 277,000
Nikon Oil on sensor: 1,810,100
Leica oil on sensor: 1,850,000
Canon oil on sensor: 3,080,000
So, based on number of units sold it...

Perhaps it'sĀ "Lorenzo's Oil"?
(Sorry couldn't resist ;-))

Any manufacturer that sits with bad press will fail to survive. It's suicide not to do anything about it and it's not a major fault. There are those that don't have the problem so it seems that...

The 'green light' is connected to the phase detection system within the camera itself. Hence it matters not which lens one uses as the focus detection is part of the camera electronics.
However...

Hi Jay A,
From what I've read the Canon 135 is a very good lens in it's own right.
Funny enough, I'm also missing an 85mm and contemplating what to do there. The Zeiss 85 gets fairly bad reviews...

+1
No problems at 500 shots - like many others.
If I have to clean the sensor sometime I'll do it or have it done.
The benefits out-weight the cons (which in my case are non anyway).
Great camera...

Jay A,
No problem. However i wouldn't use the confirmation dot as some have reported it doesn't work well.
Guess I'm lucky because it's pretty much 'spot-on' with my Zeiss 21 and 35 as...

So you got me thinking. New lens so will do a quick check.
Photos of a rattan mat at F2 and F5.6 at a distance of around 1 meter. Focus by screen and confirmation dot (they were almost identical...

As you have a rental 135mm it's quite possible that it's been manhandled in some way and the optics have shifted.
One thing I don't think you've mentionedĀ is how you focussed?
Using the...

You mean Canon have a way of negating gravity? There's already enough 'de-centred' lenses around and this would just add to the number. Sharp in the middle OOF top and bottom on the horizontal.

Yeh, took over from Perry White. Booted out Jimmy Olsen years ago but now Spidey's smiling. Rumour is that the Journos are next and Clark Kent is trying to bite his nails ;-)

"No place in the Sun for Chicago's Photographers" seems an apt headline for the newspaper. Pretty sad really.

Great decision. With the money they'll save all the Execs can now get a big pay rise for their foresight in cutting the salary bill ;-)

First decide what you want to (most likely) photograph then decide which lens would be most suitable for your intended 'target'.
There's a (fairly) comprehensive list over at DXO for the better...

Then you certainly had cause to complain.

Thought it was the shutter/mirror assembly?
There are those that have the problem, and those that do not.
The problem is 'something' throwing excess oil onto the sensor. So the problem is (most...

You wouldn't be the first. I learnt that with my D90 ;-)
When I purchased my D600 it was the first setting I checked/changed Can't remember the 'default'.
I had checked with one of the internet...
