As far as i know on original DPx series they adjust position between the lens and the sensor with shims. Thickness of those varies from about 0.25mm to really thin ones.

second image definately motion blur from camera shake most probably when you press shutter. If you look carefully you can see that blur is in vertical direction.

Something strange going on with your system i run it on osx with less memory 6 and 8 gb and never had that problem. Going from 4 to 6 did not make any difference changing to ssd did improve things.

You most probably could upgrade it to 2gb of RAM wich will help a lot. searched on the net it looks like 5.3.1 supports ppc too just check what latest version supports ppc

With one small addition you need at least 3gb of ram either on osx or windows otherwise no processor will help.

It would be painfully slow not enough ram . Latest ufraw should support sd15 merril etc. did not try that yet.  latest for osx 5.5.2 but i gues you have ppc processor i am not sure it will work on...

Under linux you can use wine with spp 5.5.1.

For some of us it is not an option :-( If sigma did tele and wide angle converters for DP series i would probably bought them eventually. But i guess they would be expensive so it is probably not...
