Seeing some of the images, I agree with Dickerson as to the emphasis on a boat, rather than the village.

Dickerson: Just scored the entries to this challenge. This one is OK but I was supprised just how many of the entries lacked .. well .. a village in the scene. Some were obviously taken FROM villages but were not OF the village. Many had a boat or boats, fish, fishermen etc as the main subject and not A village. Because of this, and I feel mean, this is probably the lowest set of scores I have ever awarded.

Duh, what happens in a 'fishing village'? Fishing perhaps? So fishing boats would be an integral part of the scene. Otherwise it would just be houses by the water.

I have several seen other entries without the 'proper' title. Have they also been notified and DQ'd?

pleytime: The Rapid Black strap seems much better than this one. It's more flexible and you don't have to wriggle your hand into it as you would have to with this and other camera straps. I have the Rapid Black attached at the side of my OM-D5 instead of at the tripod connector.

The screw mount is a separate piece. I just clipped the strap onto the clip for the regular camera strap. Works like a charm. Or, attach one of those round keyring things to the cameras strap clip on the side and then the Black Rapid (my mistake above) can be attached to that. It's very secure. I do have a pic of it.

The wall seems out of context. Is she at a protest? If so, and more of the scene were shown, the relationship of the woman to the background would be clearer.

Why is he wearing a coat and hat inside? It looks like he's inside.

More focus on the woman herself, without the clutter on the left would have made this a more dynamic image. But very nice otherwise.

Rather ordinary and typical of 'executive' type portraits.

Great photo. Love it. The expression is priceless.

Thanks for all the comments. I noticed that in Norway's arctic, the houses had a tendency to be painted bright colors. I guess that enhances the otherwise dark, drab winter months. This shot was taken around Easter, in April.

The strong yellow line is what attracted me to the image. What if the rest of the image was black and white?

Direct link | Posted on Jan 2, 2014 at 11:57 UTC as 2nd comment | 1 reply

The roughness of the boat is beautiful. More white would enhance the image.

Lovely image. The contrast between the face and feet and white is wonderful.
