The icon for removing hardware is opened in the window by clicking on the little up arrow, the legend is hidden icons, on the bottom righthand side

Hs similar problem although I did not power down though.  I just reconnected the camera to the PC and the update began, hope that helps.

Day 1 out with the 70/400G.  Managed to screw up most of the settings but the weather was most  forgiving.  Learnt a lot since then but plenty still to learn and of course remember) - more to follow

Oops, duff gen from me, if on it displaye the expose adjustment, too bloody complicated by half, wher's my Brownie and some 120 roll film ;-)

Unsure if thisis your answer but to view in the EVF at full aperture all the time try menu/*2/Live Display/setting effect off, helped me as found the EVF too dark when taking aircraft shots
