Is only having one focal length driving you crazy yet? It would me.

"While I cannot comment on whether the D7100 will have the D600's sensor oil spot issues, I can vouch that - contrary to what some contributors here state ... - the D7000 suffered from such a...

His brother would take one look at the G15 and start a'shakin' and a'quakin' with camera phobia.
P330 unless the owners of said camera think it's "write to card" time would drive the guy crazy...

First DSLR but you already have LR4. Good job! Import a jpeg from the D3100, tweak the settings in "Develop" and save that as a preset. Do the same for a nef. Your tweakage will be different...

Maybe it's the type of person who would buy a D5100 rather than a D7000 or D7100. Maybe we don't stress as much. Maybe the D7000 I did own for awhile did have problems but I never looked for them.

8000 is too much. I shoot a lot and a typical weeklong Utah trip I'll shoot maybe 700. I don't know if it's self-restraint or just not seeing 8000 things to take pics of.

Refurb D5100. Trust me on this. You don't need to blow that entire $2.5k just yet. Get an 18-105 VR to go along with the D5100.

Shoot in color, convert to black and white in post processing.

All of my D5100 shots are focused as I want. I'm not going to post up any, you'll just have to take my word for it.

That was the only one I wanted to work on but it was a rush job as I rushed out the door. I always have to deal with color casts when shooting real estate. This had some ambient coming in from...

I looked at this pic as something I'd have shot if I had been there. I messed around with it in post and came up with this. Since the A and my D5100 have the same sensor they have the same...

I was shooting a road bike race downtown last year. I had my 18-105 on most of the time but frantically switched to my 55-200 VR (need to put the VR there because there is a 55-200 not-VR that...

Thanks for that info. Another facet of my original question was how the 18-105 VR, shot at 105, cropped, compared to the Sigma shot at 200. IOW, could you compare the "crop zoom" of the 105's...

With all respect, I'm sure Ben Hermann will buy both and could give us his opinion. :-)

So............didja do some more testing?
-
That's a little creepy, man.

"But, you do bring up an interesting question about cropping. I'd be surprised if a cropped shot from the 18-105 could compete with a full shot from the Sigma. I'll go out and do a test right...
