Ah. Can't wait for the next ten years worth of updates on this thread.

It's absurd to say that's what used D600's are going for. I live in a real large metro area and there are none here for that price. Just because some goofballs are giving away their cameras in...

I'm "against NR" to the extent that it smears details. Sure I could shoot at ISO 6400 and reduce all the noise and have an image that looks like one big smeared detail. Which of course is not...

"The bigger question now is what is to become of all the current owners of dusty/oily D600s?"
They'll either slide down the slippery slope of pixel peeping madness till they're just slobbering in a...

"More like a stop and PP NR can really improve things a stop or so all else being equal. Control exposure well and up your PP NR scheme, and ISO 6400 with the D5100 is not unrealistic."
Been...

Oh, your buddy did, huh? Sorry, I don't believe it. No offense.

Lightroom 5.1. You said it didn't have to be free.

So the D7000 felt "flimsy" but the D700 feels "too large and heavy". Hey, you can't have everything! Since the D600 is in the middle, maybe that's the camera for you...and me.
I'm not a needer of...

I digitized a bunch of slides on a Canon 8400 scanner (not sure if that's the exact model number). Only six or so at a time but I just followed the instructions and VOILA! they're on my hard drive...

I would have never imagined a simple comparison between these two lenses would result in a thread with so many replies. Sheesh, just buy one or the other already. I don't own either!

"My D700 is good enough for me to hold onto for now so I'm happy I have the best solution currently available to me. If you're happy with your amateur FX body for whatever you shoot then I'm glad...

I've never had to adjust any AF fine tune settings on any of the Nikon bodies I've owned and the multitude of lenses from all manufacturers I've owned. Is that a D7100 thing?

So why do you own all those cameras if one can "do a great shot with an old camera phone"?

I used to shoot indoors (real estate) with a Sigma 10-20. Great lens for a great price. But I got tired of the "wide angle distortion" of elongated tables and lamps and such. So I've been...

"Yes, the 24MP sensor in the D600 is nice... but the kudos for that go entirely to Sony. The compromised camera shell around that sensor, however, is solely Nikon's fault."
I think you're confusing...

I've had two on my local Craigslist in the past few weeks at $1200 and $1300. Under the roof I'd say.

You missing my point but, hey, do what you want. Sorry I gave you some real world experience for you to chew on.

The 16-85 is a lot wider than the Sigma. I've found, say, 18mm on a Sigma vs 18 on a Nikon...the Nikon is wider. So 16 Nikon vs 17 Sigma is a big difference.
I'd get the 16-85 VR for that...
