I disagree. These cameras are totally different animals with different strengths and often different target audiences.  Camera shops are the place where you can go and compare these things live...

It's never a good idea to adjust your lifestyle because you read something from ONE person on the internet. :) I have always felt that the camera improved quite a bit with the firmware updates.

Maybe check those same pictures a second time by viewing them on a different computer. If the issue persists, then you or the camera might have a focussing problem.
