hdr-tone mapping, in my humble opinion, isn't basic pp.

I use hdr a lot (almost every time!) but, again, when the rules of a challenge states basic PP then I keep my hdr pictures out of it.

Mind you: it doesn't seem that anyone complained and the host gladly accepts this entry as number 1 then I can only gratulate the winner (it's a nice picture!) but it would be nice to see some consistency.

I took 3 pictures with autobracketing and merged them in Photomatix. Later I add some tonal contrast...
