About the Polaroids, I have NEVER seen polaroids this good. Can anyone care to explain? Are those scanned polaroid-negatives or something?

Just amazing work. I´ve always wanted feel how its like to live for real.. These images makes me want that experience even more.. I dangerous life, away from bills, day-job and the simple heart-rippingly soul-wreckingly boring life as a "good citizen".

I have no trouble with this at all. How come people dont scream about all the survailance-cameras everywhere? You are being videotaped everywhere you go these days -pickin your nose, and scratching your crotch, so when a serious photographer tries a new aproach, people get upset??

I would choose the fuji x100s any day over this.. Bad choice of focal length Nikon.

Yes a real 28mm focallenght (42mm equivalent) and I would have preordered today. But NOT with a stupid 18.5mm (28mm equivalent)! SO STUPID NIKON!

Why does almost no photographer make use of the extreme DR that this camera has? It looks like almost everyone who buys it shoots in jpeg and blows highlights.. Do they like the "blown highlights"-look or what is wrong?? Why are there no good images taken with the D800 with NO BLOWN HIGHLIGHTS?

This makes me sooo mad. I downloaded raw files from photographyblog.com and the P7700 beats the crap out of my Nikon J1! No more Nikon for me thats for sure. Well, not until they use a Sony sensor in the 1-system. For me, the most important thing now on a Nikon camera, is that it uses a Sony sensor.

Colin Dutton: Someone should design a cartridge sensor that can can slot into any 35mm film camera.

Dream come true.. wow.. it would be so amazing.. imagine putting one of these in any old compact, slr, rangefinder or lomo camera !? So freaking fun!

NO PDAF???!!! You´ve got to be kidding me?! This makes the camera useless!! AF-speed is the most important thing when you cant manually focus in for real.. Cant believe they left PDAF out.. Strange..

How come the silence around the AF-speed? Cant read anything about it anywhere.. I guess its as slow as the first Nex or worse, or else someone would have mentioned it somewhere.. Too bad..

I just wonder where the D800 reviews are with images shot by proffessionals and not by amateurs using jpeg and show "their best" with blown out highlights..

Tom Barry: Maybe I missed it, but were color filters used on the lens(es) when the sample photos were taken? If so, it would be informative to include the color of the filter, if any, used for each shot.

If I would use any filter I would use a dark green or blue to get natural skintones. Skin is not supposed to be bright white, its supposed to be around middle grey if converted to b&w. And thats horribly hard to get with digital, even with filters and proper PP. Thats why I still shoot b&w film.

Its like, "why in gods name do you eat Low Carb when you can just enjoy the good in life and eat a High Carb diet!?? Maybee because I want to and it makes me feel good? Is that not a good enough answer for you?

Direct link | Posted on May 12, 2012 at 08:01:36 UTC

Maybee I am hallucinating, but the greyscales look very natural and film-like.. Better then what I have ever seen from an ordinary cmos-converted from colour-bw-image.. It looks VERY natural actually.. Hm.. Or should I say "F**K!" its to expensive!
