Distortion correction gone wild?
-
Quite expected for such a small sensor. Did you try the noise reduction in Lightroom? It should be able to get rid of some chroma noise at least.
-
You do realize that this was an 11 year old thread? They were probably talking about the first S110 from Canon.http://www.amazon.com/Canon-PowerShot-Digital-Camera-Optical/dp/B00005LB8P
-
You might want to start a new thread about this though, as it has nothing to do with JPEG size.
-
I think distortion correction could be a contributing factor here. The S95 has DC as well, but the S100 obviously needs more.
-
The P7700 has more in-camera sharpening and the G15 has more in-camera noise reduction.
-
What you see is the effects of noise reduction. It's clear in those photos that Canon applies much more NR to the JPEGs than Nikon does. Stupid, I know. But people are scared of noise and Canon...
-
Yes, DXO Optics uses another distortion correction formula (than the one in DPP and ACR) and does keep more of the original capture. Especially if you deselect "Keep aspect ratio".
-
Easy. Compactness. You can now mark the question as answered.
-
I get a feeling of Deja Vu here. Didn't you post about this already?
-
A tip, check out the galleries over at dcresource.com. The biggest difference that I can see is that the G15 lens is sharper, particulary near the edges.
-
That's great! Now, could you mark your question as answered, please? Otherwise this thread will go on "forever", with the same arguments over and over again.
-
That was a joke, right? If not, design is more than meets the eye. Think inside the camera. Think engineering.
-
To me, this is very good news. It was a gamble. Would people realize that a big sensor is desirable thing. Or should we just go with the megapixels. I honestly never thought this camera would take...
-
Shoot JPEG+Raw and you get all the advantages.
-
Please post one of the soft images, or a link to one. I'd like to compare with what I have now.
-
No, not a deal killer. It's just something I hope for whenever I hear Canon is releasing a new G/S series camera. I use the two-second timer a lot (to avoid camera shake) and find the bright red...
-
Thank you.Still no way to deactivate the self-timer lamp. Oh well, maybe next time.
-
I feel it takes about a year to get to know a camera. That's why I shake my head a little when people return a cam after a week or two.
-
One thing is for certain, ACR will deal with the noise in a totally different way.
