  • The recently announced APS-C Samsung camera uses BSI. Hopefully everyone will use BSI soon.

  • Looks very good on slrgear.com, especially at F4 and above for sharpness, but it has moderate CA issues.

  • BTW, I've seen the MkII version of the RX100 (I think refurbished) for around $400. I could see myself paying that but no more for a fixed lens camera.

  • Don't forget the 1" sensor is back illuminated, which adds noticeably more light hititng the photo-sensors. The RX100 might have better IQ in good light due to more resolution and equal in low...

  • Why is this only a m43 issue? It's not as though shutters were designed yeserday. What does it cause - blurry images? I like the m43rds due to size and the lens selection, but I'm cheap and want...

  • the article explains and has a figure showing that the lens does not illuminate the whole sensor...no thanks!

  • I agree with that Dr. John - you're saying the same as I said in my 2nd paragraph just in a different/opposite way.

Due to not using the whole sensor and the price, I'd rather get a m43 with...

  • If soemoen is tkaing it very seriously, they'd not use this camera nor the tiny little add-on flash.

  • I agree a flash won't be "needed" often by most people who know what they are doing (not so for the other half of users who do not knwo what they are doing). I basically never use the flash on my...

  • I hate heavy/large cameras, am hoping the t6i comes out soon with this same 20mp sensor...would be even beter if the T6i is SL1 sized but has the flip-out LCD; etc.

  • One can put phase detectors to the edge of the sensor, but the question is whether they actually work when so far off center...
Samsung has no lenses comnpared to Canon and do any of their snesors...

  • Why would someone shoot sports at weird angles that require a fold-out LCD? This camera is not meant for selfies or taking shots of flowers on the ground. A flip-out LCD might allow rain and...

  • Doesn't Nikon use Sony sensors? Can have OVF, great body, and sensor...can't think of which Nikon maches 7DII in speed though for sports (I don't follow Nikon).

  • The lens sticks out anyhow, so why not put a flash on the front side, in the top corner...could make it so it pops up to not have as much shade from the lens. This is not a tiny lightweight...

  • Each pixel is the same size, so ISO is not affected "per pixel" - I think it's just as though the image has been cropped in software.
However, an image (from a camera which uses the whole...

  • Ah... I fear I'll have to trigger my next camera because they shoot too fast (unless I get one of the few cameras which have a timelapse mode, so I can set FPS to 1FPS). I currently just put a...

  • Maybe I'm confused? My understanding is that it's a 17MP sensor, but the largest image size is only roughly 13MP due the sensor being cropped (because the corners are dark due to the smaller...

  • If the lens (the image circle) instead covered the whole sensor, you'd be able to do everything you want plus have a higher res image if you selected the aspect ratio of the whole sensor. Nice to...

  • Before AF we used film, which was very low resolution...and even with a OVF, you're not going to see well enough to *reliably/consistently* focus to the pixel level.
    And for obvious reasons unless...
