"DSLRs can capture the moment better than mirrorless, because you're viewing directly, not through an LCD"
That was a good one
but its 550g, heavy for a small body.
fdfgdfgdgf: the 4/3 format will die as the sony NEX/eos-m has similar wight with much better IQ.
Not sure the market positioning of the gh3 as cameras such as Nikon d5200 has the same wight and better performance characteristics
canon ceo said here that APSC is the way to go and the tiny combo of eos-m +lower wight of the prime are a better deal then any 4/3 toy. but 4/3 has important role to trigger more development of an apsc milc
@eoshdif the sensor is inferior no exotic lens can help you.Beside, any brand lens can be attached to sony using an adaptor
20mm NX Camera iFunction Pancake Lens75g
Canon EF-M 22mm f/2.0 pancakeweight 105g

Not a magazine quality I will wait for a better Nikon product
marike6: There's a short film about featuring Doug Menuez, who made the Coolpix A sample images on Nikon's website. Impressive work, nice little camera.
Copy and paste following link to check it out.
but it cost as much as the d7100
cinemascope: NX1000 + 16mm f2.4 + 20-50mm for $550 on BH. You could buy two of those kits for exactly the same $1100 and I bet there is no pratical size difference. Or buy the kit above plus the lovely 30mm f2 plus a fourth lens of your choosing and still have change for an evening at the pub.Nice camera though and I think the 28mm FL is perfect for point and shooters, who buy pocket zooms but take 98% of their shots at widest setting anyway.
A barrel distortion of ~4.3% hahahahaha
fastprime: No support for Nikon Creative Lighting System seems rather odd considering the P7700 has this feature.
No support for Nikon Creative Lighting System means that the camera can not trigger remote flash with TTL. (and does not contains a transmitter)
The camera however support any nikon flash, (its states very clear in the website with photo and the camera contain Hot shoe )
now, just buy a tiny yongnuo transmitter from ebay and set your flash to M mode. put the transmitter on the camera and the receiver on the remote flash.
Bingo its works....this how i use my lumix LX7 which control a remotely located Nikon SB700 FLASH. manual MODE IS BETTER THEN TTL since you control the flash power from the flash unit as you want. (as opposed to camera setting of flash power by TTL algorithm)
no needits works with manual mode
3 stop of DR difference? (ADL high)its like 2 generation a head
with this gap in sensor tech no reason to bother with features
Errorvideo bitrate is 36 not 24mbps
I have checked the RAW ISO vs 5D3 its seems that 5D3 is better at one stop over the D600.
Why DPR concludes with "Outstanding low and high ISO performance in both JPEG and Raw files" and not just very good?
"Outstanding" as being related to which peer full frame camera?
fdfgdfgdgf: From press release "following the D5000 and the D5100, the Nikon D5200 offers a massive leap in image-quality"
So the sensor that was introduce in Sep 2010 with overall DXO 80 score is replaced with a new one that will be a generation ahead. It should reach almost FF performance in order to stand the claim "massive leap"
From press release "following the D5000 and the D5100, the Nikon D5200 offers a massive leap in image-quality"
To make "...enhanced dynamic range for astonishing details..." I use to very simple and very powerful.... photoshop. Any, even photoshop3 can do that. See the sample I did in 3 minute. I didnt overdo this image but can do "overdo" easy, just to add more sat.More details in my blog http://www.traveltonz.co.nz/drama-in-the-sky/
where is the drama?
fdfgdfgdgf: I thought after the Pentax K-30, DPreview will post full reviews only.
Thanks, The is a lot of room for high-end pocket. I like your definition for DSLR video to be used for creative and artistic purpose only.
I found myself using my Lumix LX7 on a daily basis, while using my DSLR for both photo/video only for creativity purpose.

Very professional review. Well balanced, the one you can trust.
