Agree with most.... ... but polythene bags big enough to contain camera & lens and elastic band to seal it, for those days when coming into a warm house from the cold outside. Minimises...

..or SLRs that didn't have ground glass screens with film where the results couldn't be seen until after processing.
But today we can decide where we want the main point of focus and SEE in the...

Good choice. I haven't used the Oly 12-50 because I already had the 14-45 & 20mm lenses when I purchased the first m43 camera (the Panny G1). They are both superb lenses! Although the new 45mm f1.8...

Yes they are, but they are good. I wasn't sure of your maths understanding. The maths is simple - it's getting to grips with the concept. But your OP seemed to show you knew what you were...

It's the worst blur that you'd call 'sharp'!!! :-)
It's normally expressed in terms of the blur on the camera sensor.
Yes.

No - you are quite right! (assuming you didn't introduce camera shake or something else in the first case!)
The problem with 'hyperfocal distance' is that it is ALSO based on the amount of blur you...

... so that would bother me no end. At a certain focal length (42mm with G1, 45mm with OMD) with a properly aligned evf one gets a stereo effect. The slightest tilt would be most disconcerting.

Mark, there's a simple formula which works effectively for all lenses (though complex designs will affect the exact details)
1/(subject distance)= 1/(focal length) - 1/(lens to focal plane...

Not just an Osprey but a real O/S prey!! Great shot!

Love your photos, Trevor, and like you I use even blurred shots for ID.
Both with the panny 45-200 on OM-D, but heavily cropped, and resized for Flickr:-

Hi Timur! Yes, one can agonize over which camera/system to use, especially for perfectionists!
Like Anders I'm still using my G1 & EM-5 and wonder what I might get next, but as I am mostly happy...

Daryl - all I can say is "it depends"! If you are talking quality, then either post to full res. or crop a section at full res.
For my flickr pictures I reduce to approx 1000 pixels and compresses...

A pretty massive exercise if you want true parallax correction on the frame lines (i.e. the v/f to show what the lens sees) for all types of lenses.

... someone will produce a 1.4x or 2x extender? (With focussing read-through) would that help?

At last a camera that I can use without my nose being pressed up against the LCD!! And it has a sensor IS system.
Looks very interesting! It could be a neat replacement for my lovely G1, but the...

I'm not a great flash user, but that flash works OK with my EM-5. I do recall having some difficulty when I first got the camera in getting the locking peg on the flash to engage with the one on...

For your thoughtful answers.
For the record I answered Panny's follow-up questionnaire with a comparison between their ignoring my simple 'complaint' with Oly's excellent response when my OM-D...

Oh, Guy, I do!
But, a) I have some loyalty to Panny (£2000+ gear which is good) and want to help them, and
b) It wouldn't accept any free text entries! :-(

A number of responders to my original e-mail seemed to think that I didn't try to contact Panasonic UK. I had already done so via their web site's limited options and received an automated ticket...

Certainly interesting! Does it come with the cable?
Let us know how you get on. Thanks,
Mike
