Taking photo is already an act of manipulation/retouching of the "reality". The "reality" always reaches our senses through some media, be it a photo, a news broadcast, an announcement in words, etc. which are all manipulation or retouching of the "reality". Now more than ever it is so much so that the media become the message (McLuhan).

Stunning! and must be an award winner! 300 x 60seconds shots for the star trails, right? That's really a painstaking work! Once tried a 2000second exposure for star trails, but not so dramatic in effect as yours.

The rivers may not be so calm in a different season. But the wide, flat channels of the rivers do provide a lake-like surface to reflect the sky. Thanks for your comment.--Every moment can be a decisive moment, depending on how you and the world see it.
