I have a ZS20 (ZS19 with GPS) and for a few months after I bought it I was bitterly disapointed in the IQ - it was exactly as you describe it
I took Eriks advice and started shooting aperture...

Well the LX7 and Canon S100 produce IQ that is no better no better than a TZ30 (ZS20) so I see no reason why the LF1 should bomb out on the IQ front. Please don't tell me I'm wrong about that...
-
I have an FZ62 and I can confirm that they are really good - a bit of a hidden gem. I suspect that you could pick one up on ebay for a similar price to an FZ100 and the technological advances will...

Thanks to all for their advice.
As I stated earlier, the G5 is a none starter for me due to cost - they are twice the price of a second hand G3.
I think my only real choice within my £250.00 budget...

Its been done to death................

Shoot aperture priority and keep it as wide open as you can to prevent diffraction. Keep the ISO as low as you can. The end!
-
Thanks for the response everyone. In a perfect world I'd buy a G6, but sadly the world isn't perfect and the G5, whilst it may be good, seems to be approx double the price of a G3 here in the UK! I...

HI
I'm a very experienced photographer - 60 yrs old and always had a camera from the age of 10
I've had the full spectrum of digitals from P&S thro dslr, but gave my Canon 400D and lenses to my...

I'm with you on clearviewers - They are a superb device (I have 3!), but whilst they are relatively small they bulk up a camera considerably, making it far less comfortable in your pants...

The phrases "Going off at a tangent" and "Getting your knickers in a twist" spring to mind.
The article is about ceasing TV Production and switching production from Panasonic factories to 3rd party...

That's a great answer if I can't get the genuine article. I had one on a Canon 300mm lens when I had SLR's and it does the trick. I'll hold on for the genuine article for a week or so then go...

Can anyone tell me where I may find a lens hood for my FZ62. I'm UK Based despite the name (I worked there 30yrs ago).
I can't find them on the Panasonic website and the one paid £3.50 for on ebay...

it's worth noting that the SX doesn't have a live histogram if that's important to you. I completely discounted the Canon when I discovered that.
-
Thanks Nik. I too am doing it just for the EVF. Having an S100 then sticking a clearviewer on the back is a solutiuon for sure, but it reduces the appeal somewhat
-
Whilst I agree that waiting for a professional review is a sound policy, toy accquisition fever demands I get one NOW! In addition I shall be selling my S100 anyway, because the IQ is no better...
-
I really like my S100. By and large the IQ is no better than my much more versatile Panasonic TZ30 but it's just soooooo pocketable. It's failing is, for me, it's lack of a viewfinder. I either...

Now that Panasonic have announced the LF1 - S100/110 size with an EVF, are Canon likely to respond? Are there any rumours about an S110 with an EVF?
-
Just to be awkward, what about the new Panasonic LF1? More zoom than the S110 and an evf to boot whilst retaining the diminuitive proportions of the S110? I see no difference in IQ between my TZ30...
