I read that GIMP is about to get 16-bit support. I hope they get a stable version of that out soon.
-
I think they already said that LR will be getting cloud only features? That would leave the perpetual licence crippled. I hope to see Corel and some others join forces and really put out a killer...

Is the PaintShop Pro also 64-bit these days? And 16-bit editing all the way?

Today's amateurs are tomorrow's professionals. Lose the beginners and amateurs today and you will lose the professional market tomorrow.

I will still use my licences for PS CS5 and LR4, but eventually they will no longer work as operating systems will change and so on. I might as well start learning new software little by little so...

I wonder if this new policy will fly in EU. The EU has given Microsoft some hard time and perhaps they will look into this as well?
-
Also, the ability to open .psd files is an important criterion.

Dear Dpreview, I hope you can do a comparison between Gimp, Serif PhotoPlus, ACDsee Pro, PaintShop Pro X6 and Photoline. Some criteria for evaluation: - colour management - layers and masks -...

Sounds like in many ways Gimp is already there and will hopefully become a professional grade package soon. I think I will wait for the stable 16-bit versions and proven colour space management....

Robust colour profile support

I would also like to know the reason for the EUR/USD price difference... It is the same cloud for all, right?

So there are Gimp, PaintShop Pro and Photoline. I wonder which is the best replacement.

If it has all-round 16-bit editing and good layers plus robust colour profile support I will probably give it a try. At some point after JASC sold it to Corel I got frustrated with all the bugs I...

What are the viable options? LR for RAWs (at least for a while, it would not surprise me if it too was "clouded" in the near future) and Corel PaintShopPro for other editing? Or something else? I...

Seems like I will stick with my CS5 for a long long while. Hoping for real competition to emerge soon. I wonder when Lightroom will be gone as well.
-
Indeed, what about Lightroom?

No harnessing the powers of graphics cards? That is a pity. What about support for 10-bit displays? It would also be nice to create panoramas in LR.

Six months or so ago I got the 1Ds MkIII and found it the best body by far in terms of shadow noise performance out of the cameras I have previously owned. It is good to hear that some progress has...
