Maybe they will add a 35-70mm and that range will be very well covered (for APS-C): - 17-70mm f/2.8-4 light, versatile and affordable (travel) - 30mm f/1.4 light, super fast and affordable...

When are people going to be satisfied? If it’s built from good quality materials… why is it so heavy If it’s the fastest zoom yet… why it is so short range Why don’t you sent letters to Canon and...

And now new rumors appear regarding those DG 24mm f/1.4 and 135mm f/1.8 OS. There was a rumor 2 years ago about Sigma developing fast primes 24, 35 and 135… since then 35 already hit the market
-
@miles green I had Nikon and Canon systems in mind, as they have both crop and full frame formats. It doesn't make sense to make a crop only lens that expensive since the ff glass works on both...
-
I wonder how many 14-35 & 35-100 f/2 is Olympus selling and if the manager who took the decision (knowing the costs for making those lenses) still has the chair. Can 4/3 be considered a...

$2,000 would make it the most expensive lens built for APS-C sensor only (way more than any Nikon DX). I'm not saying nobody ever put a $2,000 glass on a DX body, but I doubt anyone will buy a...

Sigma and Tamron (f/2.8 zooms) are usually half the price of a similar Canon /Nikon (f/2.8 zoom) or about the same as a slower Canon /Nikon (f/4 zoom). Given the price of Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 at...
-
What’s wrong with having diversity? If a product doesn’t fit your needs or price expectations… you don’t buy it! The producer will come up with other products. Sigma is not expecting to influence...

It's not super-fast but it's still faster than a f2.8 on ff. DOF may be similar, and of course you could increase the ISO on your ff just a little more to get similar results. So it's not better...

That Nikon is $2000. If this zoom will approach that, than it's a no for me also. But at half of that you get at least two great focal lenghts.
-
... or wait for that Sigma 24mm f/1.4 DG at half the price of Nikon.
-
A 70-135mm would need OS also. I wonder if it's doable with an f/1.8. I doubt it. If priced right I'd like to see a 35-70mm f1.8 with OS instead.
-
But what do you say about the way Sigma handled this release? Now you have a rumor with most comments saying it’s a fake… couple of hours later it’s official… and then some even have pictures (not...
-
The way technology progresses everything is possible, but with what cost? Sigma’s current 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 is 700$. How much would one pay for a constant f/1.8 (OS also?) to leave the tripod at...
-
I thought landscape and architectural photographers use tripods and large ‘f’ values (to have everything in focus). I may be wrong…
-
Sigma released it's 8-16mm in 2010. I could see this redesigned for the new lineup with a constant f/4 instead of the f/4.5-5.6. Do you realy need that f/1.8 aperture with such a wide lense?
-
Apparently Nikon’s execs think like you. Why give something ‘nice’ to DX when there is FX? Good thing there is also Sigma, which released 3 DC lenses since reorganizing lineup.
-
Or at least a 35-70mm f1.8. Above 70mm one could use the ft glass.
-
You can still zoom with your feet and transform that 2x into a 3x. It's still faster than your fastest 3x and more convenient than a couple of primes.
-
Currently you have to choose between a zoom (which gives multiple focal lengths but it's slow) and primes (which are fast but offer single focal lenghts). I was wondering why there aren't...
