Have you considered the Tokina 12-24 F4 Pro II, it will autofocus on your D5100. I had one for mine and it was fantastic.
-
Have you looked at the 24-120 F4? It may not be quite at the level of the other two(its still very good) but you won't be switching lens constantly either.

I did think the thread title was a tad self-congratulatory ;)

I chose the 16-35 over the 14-24 for the use of filters, but am now considering getting the Samyang for night photography, as I don't think F4 is fast enough for that. Other than that i'm really...

I'm trying to talk myself out of buying a 70-200 F4 to go with my D600 and threads like these aren't helping ;) nice shot.

I've been going through the same decision process, I have a 700-300VR which i'm reasonably happy with but it seems to be somewhat inconsistent, especially after my wife dropped it on some...

Love that water action captured on the bottom right. Nicely done.

I was wondering how a B&W photo could be guilty of obvious overprocessing but that makes sense. Composites are going too far in a landscape photography contest IMO. Do what you can to bring out the...

Wish my hands were as steady, i've had more than one thumb show up in my shot trying that :-|

There's no problem using Lee filters with a Cokin Z holder but I prefer the wide angle Lee holder, personally. No vignetting and the Cokin Z has these tiny pins to deal with, lost one pretty much...
