I would suggest that they are far less advantageous today, than they were when the d300 was released.

whats the largest print straight out of camera you have made with your D200
I've printed quite a few times at A-1 plus size, 610 mm x 915 mm, i.e. 24" x 36".
Nice work. You might really like a perspective control lens.
Yes, I would love one - just can't afford one right now! I try to do some perspective adjustment in...
The 14-24 f2.8 Nikon is a great lens, but if you want to reduce the number of lenses you carry, then the Nikon 12-24 f4 DX is a fine lens that works for both DX and FX.
Works on DX for full range...

Thanks for the link chuhsi.
A very sharp lens. But no mention of focusing speed or accuracy in their tests, or did I miss something?
How fast and accurate is the focusing of the Sigma compared to the Nikon 17-55?
Mike, you certainly make me want to get a copy of the lens, or at least rent one so I can to evaluate it for myself.
Chuhsi, maybe I get the Sigma 1.8 for the special moments and hold onto the...
I've seen 2 different review threads on dpreview.com.

So more likely date is August/September 2014 pre-Photokina...

Perhaps send the roadmap to Nikon with a job application!
I also have the 300 f4 that I can use a 1.4 extender.
But the point I am trying to make is free hand vs. monopod with three choices.
I have a Gitzo CF monopod as well as tripod (Gitzo...
I'm just the user of an old D200.
But I think the D800 is the same as the D200 here.
Check your cameras flash settings.
I think you've got it set to red eye reduction.
Read the instruction manual...
