I wouldn't consider 7D as an update - it is very good camera , but it is a four year old model (the sensor technology , low light IQ) , sure it is still keeps best record on AF and burst buffer...

Are you saying , that your Canon DSLR can't produce images of similar IQ ?
Also , I would suppose , you don't mind smudged corners on your photos . I wonder how good will Nokia do in low light...

One more item : camera body cap - if , for any reason you going to remove the lens for more than ten sec. period , you should first screw in the cap to prevent the particles fly in .

why a cardreader AND laptop ?

"(2) a camera strap that says NIKON or CANON in 2 inch high letters" - good one I'm wearing mine inside-out

True , in the "real world" 90% of images been viewed on 4 inch smartphone screen for about 3 sec. before skipping to next one . But this post invited us to check the differences of camera systems ,...

Published in this resolution , one could never spot a difference . Add in to that bunch a smartphone image , and it will too fits right .
It would have much more sense to present partial 100% crops...

Check if "silent mode" is ON
Check the mirror lock up
Check if you're on "quick " focusing mode

Enfuse and\or enfuse based for fine pre-aligning (as tufuse...) - high IQ output and all free

Actually , lack of controls , buttons , grip ...the " button arrangement" , is on main turn offs \ turn ons in this business . IQ for non pixel peers would be the second thing to compare . As...

If you mentioned "sports" and "macro" , when FF 1D is the choice for you .
I must add here , that in my understanding , these two models stand very far one from another . 1D is standard choice for...

I would be looking for button stuck in .
Just for fun : see if you can shoot\change values through remote with EOSUtil. while camera set to AV or TV
-
well , frankly , there is nothing much in this photo from pixel peering point of view : high CA and blur all center and corners , not really flattering nor camera nor lens

Last time I had similar issue , I blamed the combination of low charged battery and 50mm f1/4 lens (well known for its' AF motor) .
Problem went away after reattaching the lens and recycling with...

Thanks for link.
Looking at the JPG samples , it seems that there is over softness to JPG settings/in-camera process or someone has shaky hands even on 1\400sec .

Clearly , the 70-200 lens holding back the camera (I repeat myself here) , the test shooting should be done with fast prime or L lens

7D noisy at high ISO (above 1600)
6D is Canons' big step in low light noise reduction , but lower AF abilities comparing to older 7D and has no build flash (which is savior from time to time)
60D...

Well , the Samsung move is bold , since EVF , in my opinion will be left to collect dust - SLR shooters like to keep an eye in VF and their fingers on dials , so it 'll be a challenge to drew'em ...
