makes you wonder why there are no official before after pictures.. doesnt it? ;)
just look at this review pictures
looks the same.
treepop: Me mad at Canon for their price gouging and lack of R&D :(
just look at the black magic cinema camera.
seriously canon.. that price is a f* joke
Jogger: The sensor is far too small to be using PL or FF lenses. Its smaller than 43 and once you crop, you probably looking at a 3x crop factor.. good luck getting any decent wide to normal lenses. They should have just gone with an APSc/S35 sensor.
last time i ve been to the cinema the movie really had lots and lots of wide angle shots * rolleyes
suprjeff: there are other apps that do the same thing, but they don't have the hipster name, just use a different app.
no there actually are no other apps that do the same thing.. there is a fine differents in their filter, they really put a lot more work in a more film like feeling and it is really instant. thats what people wanted a really really easy way to use filters and share photos.
but there could be a new instagram clone coming out. i think facebook is a huge bubble the general public who invests in the stock will lose a lot of money.it is a bubble just like the whole us economy which is build on extreme dept.
lol.. imagine them sitting in a conference room.
facebook: okay.. how much money do you wantinstagram: We want 1.000.000.000$,...
there must be something wrong with me.. I liked the photo an infinite amount more.
god damn it..
If you can´t make use of 36 megapixel than leave to the professionals and stop whining..
pretty crazy quality.. the camera has been in the image/iso comparison tool for quite a long time and the quality is really really good : )
Danlo: Amazing... And this is the planet we are trying to destroy with every means possible.. I sincerely hope humanity dies with it. We dont deserve this beautiful planet.
what are you talking about.. you may speak for yourself but i am not destroying this planet *rolleyes
i downloaded nx200, 5n, a77 (nex7) iso1600 raw samples, they all look the same if you bring them to 24mp, sharpen each one and reduce chroma noise.
it seems that samsung is making big steps with all their products i think sony no longer has the image sensor advantage, i would say they are equal. and i am not a samsung fanboy.. my first camera was a sony alpha 100, nikon d90, nikon d300 and now a smaller nx100 because it is more fun to carry around : )
Sdaniella: Is rolling shutter a negative feature still of RED? (like 'jello' video of Nikon?) or of dSLR videos? or videocams for that matter?
or have they resolved this?
samsung silently already fixed the rolling shutter on their new nx200 camera (apc-s sized sensor like sony nex etc)but the codec is not so nice already.but they are making big improvements expect to see more from samsung in the video market soon with the nx20 which sure will have better codec options given the rate of improvement at samsungfast pans are here for example but codec breaks apart with all that leaf footage
aeolos: hmm.. have you guys actually looked at some red footage?I always thought the reds must be pretty amazing with it 5k and 4k shooting
but from a resolution standpoint the camera is pretty much crap.. the 5k looks only a little better than upscaled footage from a hacked gh2!
images from red footagehttp://blog.vincentlaforet.com/2011/06/09/red-epic-5k-and-hdrx/
seriously look how bad the quality is even at 5k!
i would simply prefer really good quality 1080p insteat of bad quality 5k.. it is simply a waist of memory space and cumbersome to work with
hmm.. have you guys actually looked at some red footage?I always thought the reds must be pretty amazing with it 5k and 4k shooting
luben solev: What i find interesting is that DPReview is happy to cover these extremely expensive video cameras that happen to also do stills, but don't cover similarly priced medium format dslrs that are all about photography.
thats because there were no recent annoucements!there is no doubt they will cover the next medium format too and probably even test it.
you know this news site is pretty new..
in 5 years people will probably laugh how expensive 4k video cameras were.. and how huge ^^even the 800$ hacked gh2 is already able to put out pretty awesome 1080p.. technology is improving at such fast rates that maybe a cheap gh4 or gh5 will be able to produce awesome 4k..
but photo will never die.. look how many people still use film or retro cameras.. nothing to be afraid of just embrase new technology and everybody buys what the want : )
BeanyPic: Seems as if this will be the main camera for many and I mean many film makers for at least the next 5 years or so. Expect to see footage everywhere from this new piece of kit.
not really.. red also annouced their scarlet x camerahalf the price double the features ; )
but anyways.. competition is always good and those features will make their way into cheaper cameras.. even now the hacked gh2 at 176mbit has really really good 1080p.. even the stock firmware makes pretty good 1080p footage
wetsleet: Interesting how much disagreement there is about the IQ of this camera. One poster even comments that it would be better if DPR could "bring back the simply noise comparison with the head/grey/black 100% crops.. that was the easiest to compare by far!" Which made me wonder - easier than what? Easier than discerning a difference in IQ in real images?
If there is little agreement about whether or not this camera has good IQ, and if it is just so difficult to actually notice IQ differences in actual pictures that some kind of artifice is required to make the difference noticeable, are we not all barking up the wrong tree?
DPR has a long and honourable history of quantification of IQ metrics, but maybe IQ is now generally of such a high standard that it little differentiates one camera from another. Maybe the time has come to focus far more on usability, reactivity, convenience, flexibility, adaptability, durability etc. Certainly the majority of my 'failures' have little to do with IQ.
my thought was just that this test now is three dimensional.. and all cameras seem to have slighty different focus point so some people choose one part of the image and claim that the camera A looks great but in another part of the image camera B looks better.. you know?
low iso looks great.. high iso jpeg looks not so nice.. but that is the case with most jpegs and improves a lot with raw
I wish dpreview would bring back the simply noise comparison with the head/grey/black 100% crops.. that was the easiest to compare by far!
