Created thread I love that new Canon S100!
Because thanks to it, I was able tp pick up a used Canon S90 for less than 25% of what they guy paid for it when new a couple years ago. It's a nice upgrade over my battered Canon A710IS point 'n...

Wrote a user review Timeless Classic! (5.0 / 5)
I paid only $500 for mine new from Best Buy after it was discontinued. Amazing camera! Served faithfully as D300 backup for weddings.

Only thing that prevents 5/5 stars is the price tag. Love this lens! Huge and heavy, but great in the hand and just small enough to rarely get left behind. Fantastic!

DX prime lenses don't get much better than this. Lovely bokeh, excellent optics - solid build, inexpensive, compact, fast. Love it!

Wrote a user review My best, least-used lens (4.0 / 5)
Fantastic lens, but rarely worth swapping out my17-55. When travelling light, I'll more often grab the 35mm f/1.8 as 50mm on a DX is a somewhat awkward focal length. Excellent optics.

Wrote a user review Great Optiocs, Mediocre Build (4.0 / 5)
Fantastic value! Sharp at 2.8, lovely color and contrast, compact and handy enough to hang off your shoulder all day. Just be careful not to bang it against a wall or doorway too hard as the...

Wrote a user review Best Camera I ever owned (4.5 / 5)
After three and half years, this camera feels like it has become a part of me. I've dragged it around world and to the top of Mount Rainier and it has never failed me. This wonderfully built...

Wrote a user review Great Optics, Lousy Integration (3.5 / 5)
Loved the lens's build quality, handling, range, and price - Hated it's poor behavior with Nikon's i-TTL flash modes and the MF "clutch". Great lens for the money, but eventually sold as I got...

Meh... I guess I just saved me some money. Not enough of an improvement over my G11.

Commented on Video Interview: Samsung at PPE 2011 news story
He kept emphasizing their "premium lenses", but as for their zooms, all I see are the same slow-ass zooms and 2.8 primes as the other guys. 2.8 is not fast for a prime.

Replied in Looking for testimonial: d80 to d300/d300s
I went from a D80 to a D300 and the two biggest improvements were in the metering (I was very unhappy with the D80's tendency to overexpose most scenes), and the excellent high ISO capabilities. ...

Replied in Which MBP?
For my money, the 13" base model with aftermarket RAM and SSD upgrades was just the trick. Runs Lion+Lightroom a treat.

In addition to Sam's great info, I'd add that you might want to add a warmer gel to your flash so that the fill flash is a similar color temp as the natural light (but still a little hotter to...

Replied in Need help in deciding a Wide Angle Lens for D7000
Sigma and Tokina make great optics that handle well and represent excellent value for the money and are square in your price range. For my money, the choice would be between the Tokina 11-16 and...
