Only about a year late acknowledging the problem, Nikon.
bwahahaha! Vertical grip on a P&S. "Wow, that's a big camera, you must take great pictures with it!" Oh, and no manual zoom or focus rings for the lens. How's that going to work? Oh, I know: "hold on, let me zoom my lens [whirrrrrrr]" "Just a little more [whirrrrrrr]", "Ok, I can take my photo now"
Finally D600 RAW support! I just downloaded the update and installed. If you have NEF files from D600 previously in your library, you have to right click and "reprocess originals" before you will see them. Newly imported NEFs are OK. Sorry for the Fuji people. I've been waiting for D600 RAW support for several weeks, I can't imagine getting passed over by this update. C'mon Apple, Adobe is kicking your butt in the new camera RAW support race!
Very tempting Nikon, but shame on you for making the tripod collar such an expensive 'option'. Perhaps the overall dimensions and weight will be closer to the 70-300, so a tripod collar might not be necessary. I'm still waiting to see what the new Tamron 70-200 f2.8 VC will be priced at. Will also want to see how IQ stacks up. That will be the deciding factor for me. Weight/size is not an issue for me. Still, a very tempting alternative from Nikon and with sexy "N" coating.
