Good to hear, maybe after working with something even smaller one's hands find a lot more to grip on the SL1...
-
I have to respectfully disagree with your respectfully disagreeing: while your large hands might find the SL1 comfortable my large hands wouldn't! Still the lesson for others might be that not all...

I don't know if it's wasted, I mean I get your point about blurriness and sharpness, but if the shots work out for her... An Sl1 might make make things easier for her.

Central point Autofocus was snappy, controls are easy to use, image quality seemed fine even at ISO 64000... Dial seemed a bit more plasticky than I'm used to on my 30D and the 7D I've worked...

You should try to stretch your budget a bit more and get the 55-250, which has a reputation for being decent and better than other lenses in the range. I'm seeing it on ebay uk (never bought there...

Sounds like you're looking for a wide to short telephoto, the usual suspects with a decent reputation apart from the ones you mentioned are the Canon 17-55 f2.8 (more expensive) and the Tamron...

Get a 50mm prime, perfect for babies.
Can do but expensive: 70-200 f2.8 or something even longer...
Most any camera can do this, choose the lenses wisely probably around "normal" i.e. 50mm.

I only use picasa web to share photos with friends, and it was a pain doing even that in google+. I appreciate google's products but they need to separate their ambitions from their customer's...

Not from the metro screen but at the desktop (make sure you're on the desktop by clicking on it), hit Alt + F4, that brings ye olde shut down / restart / whatever options without having to install...

The advice given by others has been spot on, just take into account the lenses you might be buying from the start or later.
The easy route is to get one or two "kit" primes, which are cheap and...

Choose your lenses first, Pentax has some tempting options but make sure you're ready to pay for them; weather sealing sounds like a good thing to have in your case but most cameras are reliable.

Just got back, my hotel was in Providencia although I have friends in Vitacura; Providencia was nice, very much alive, Vitacura a lot more posh but still with normal cars as opposed to over here...

Interesting... Maybe they use what they trust? I mean even if the improved autofocus might do wonders for them, they stick to the tried and true... And I agree what is gee whiz for me is a must...

Thank you! Somehow, I don't mind the cable in that picture!
