Some of us here have aps-c mirrorless cameras and a V1. Great combo. For me, I have a Sigma DP2 and a V1. I think you would like the V1. It's fast and versatile with a reasonable price tag (oh, and...

I'd start with the conventional wisdom here (via Sandy and Kendal, for example) that you add exposure compensation rather than decrease it as you have done in this shot. I think Kendal has said to...

This will be the one time I agree with you. For what the sensor offers, I just don't see the point of the lens. The V3 would have to make serious gains for this nearly 1k lens to make sense.
Being...

No, for the last time, I said you parroted partial truth (being generous here) as fact. Nikon calls the V1 "revolutionary" and waxes poetic about its low light shooting capability-- both claims you...

No way I pay out 900$ for that lens, no matter how nice it is.
I just don't think Nikon gets the pricing when it comes to this system...

You can introduce all of the smoke and mirrors you want to the conversation, but your hypocrisy is evident.
1) I never mentioned sensors. You are only bringing them into the debate to move goal...

No I love my LX-3. Still use it for dynamic black and white photos and as a carry around camera. I actually think the LX-3 is better than the LX-5, or produced sharper pictures.
-
Consensus seems to be that the 2 and 3 are fantastic, with a slight fall off in the 1.
Optic quality has not been a concern with these cameras. Battery life has been mentioned along with SPP flaws,...

These devices are essentially storage devices, no? The only issues is that if luggage is stolen, this device gets stolen too.
Thanks for the input. As you can imagine I'm not good with tech.

I have an LX-3. The lens is great and sharp. But it's not a Leica lens. Allowing someone else to make a lens and put your name on it is NOT the same as making the lens yourself in your own...

Thanks to you both. Actually, the idea would be to not bring the laptop (broke my screen on the last trip) and to instead use internet cafes at times to put some important DP2 (non-M) files in the...

I'm traveling abroad in a few weeks and considering options.
One option is to bring a laptop and process on the road, emailing files to myself. This is a bit of a pain to do though. On the other...

I'm totally ignorant about the optical qualities of the lenses but have spent quite a bit of time in Central America and the Amazon.
I'd opt for the single lens if you have concerns about...

I had a little chuckle at this too. There is nothing "Leica" about the lens except for the branding. The lens is a Panasonic lens produced in Japan (not Germany, like real Leica lenses).
SF, for as...

The LX cameras are great (I have one) but don't have the IQ of the V1, and in particular with the couple prime lenses the Nikon offers.
-
Yeah, ups and downs for each company I guess. I really irks me that they won't fix a few things in the V1 though. Do they do it to protect the V2? If so, that's stupid IMO because it only makes me...

Ditto on the firmware: I love my V1 but get the distinct feeling Nikon does not care too much about customers. That's fine and well, I'm going to enjoy my V1 but will not going the Nikon route again.

Totally agree. Nat Geo's own rules (minimal color adjustments, dodging and burning) are not followed on a daily basis with their daily dozen. Surely they know this?

Good to see the Sigmas get love in the Fuji forum! I think the combination of Fuji and Sigma is a great one: the Fuji obviously for any low light work and for its versatility. The Sigma for max IQ...
