Thanks to all for the info on the internal battery. My Nex7 is brand new, but today I inserted a second battery, and date and time held, so I guess the internal battery is charged.

I removed the battery to charge it, and the next morning when I returned it I noted that the Date ha be reprogramed. Did I do something wrong or s there a work around for this?Ted
