When using a camera body with a built in focus motor with a lens which also has a built in focus motor (e.g. 50mm G) which focus motor is used to achieve focus ? Also if the focus is slightly off,...

Do you experience the same problem if you have it set to AF-S single point ? If not, then AF-C, dynamic autofocus may be the culprit.
-
But can't the same be applied to the Canon line ? They have a 60D as well as a 7D. In any case, I have the D7000 and sorely miss the 51 pt AF system as well as the rough and tough feel of the...

As per Canon Rumors, the 7D will be getting a replacement announcement in Feb/March of next year. No details yet, but it looks like they will be replacing it, which means Canon is still addressing...

Well I would say this: There are expectations that Canon will replace the 7D - that's what Canonites seem to widely believe. If that is the case - then I doubt that Nikon would not want to compete...

I switched from a D300s to a D7000. My take: I miss the feel of the body and the fast AF of the D300s. Although the D7000 AF system does just fine in most situations, the I can feel the difference...

I would like the D400 to have the D800 body with a better sensor - at $1800 or less than $1800.
-
Having used a D300s (same focus system as the D700) and a D7000 - I would say that while the D7000 AF is perfectly acceptable, the D300s/D700 AF is top-of-the-line-doesn't-get-better than this...

So far it looks like Canon and Nikon have a competing camera at every price range more or less. Since Canon doesn't seem to be phasing out the 7D line, I would expect/hope that there is something...

I was really hoping it would be before the end of this year :)

Just fyi, since you're in the market for a 7D this may or may not interest you: I saw a deal in Costco today, though I'm not sure it's at every Costco, but here goes: Canon 7D + 28-135 USM lens +...

Good job on the first shot - I definitely think there's some magic in it.
-
I'm assuming cost is always a consideration, so just wondering have you considered upgrading to a D7000 for the body and Nikon 24-70 for the lens?As per my understanding, the D600 is very similar...

Nice shots, I liked the first and the last the best.

To OP,My "soft" shots occured for a specific lens, mostly at f/4, AF-A. I tried AF adjustment, but that didn't seem to work. The way I solved the problem was to use Af-S only, focus priority...

For the D7000 with 16-85 and a few small accessories, I'd recommend the Nikon DSLR bag, works well for me. I don't have the exact same one as below, but a similar...

Seriously - you mirrored my thoughts. In fact, I would argue that every DSLR needs a swivel screen - how can one discount it's utility no matter what type of photography one is doing ? Possible...

Two questions about this camera:Are we sure that the 11 point AF system is the same as in the 5D Mark II ?Also any idea why the move from Compact Flash to SD cards ?

These have to be some of the most fantastic vacation photos I have seen. Good job!
