Rick.........both nice, but the first one is stunning. Where are you?.......is this a recent image? Mike
  • Motion blur and/or a little out of focus for which you can be forgiven this one time.  Noise is a little noticeable at 100% which is canons fault...... but I do LOVE the color.......I'm assuming it ...
  • Canon DPP........

It would be interesting to see a couple of the images processed in DPP to see if the native software deals with the shadow lifting any differently/better(?) than ACR........or...

  • Prof Hank & Badi.........thanks for 'splainin that. I don't pay enough attention to what's goin' on behind the scenes, just focus on the results I see here and elsewhere.

    Danke, Mike

  • thx1138......Your "observations" could be debated (better than the 5dIII), but this is probably not the place. I'll keep an eye on the Canon Full-Frame forum, as a spectator, to see if there's a...

  • From a layman's point of view:

I'm beginning to think that Canon hasn't figured out the technology yet to get lower shadow noise from their sensors, or that the only technology that is...

Yeah.....forget about the "pocketability"........it does look kinda cool though; almost like a mini medium format kit......which "some" :-) might argue is an accurate description.

I laughed out loud, a great way to start the day! Thanks :-) :-) :-) :-)

I suppose if there is no such thing as "over exposed" that the thread/topic is moot, and probably should be deleted. :-)
  • a gift that can come in handy, and at just the right moment :-)
  • Savant ?..........not sure I'd consider myself a savant, but..... Over exposure means, to me, any image in which the highlights cannot be recovered in PP. By "recovered" I mean with ...

Jack.....thanks for the input. I did surmise that it was multiple photos, & next go-round I'll give that a go. I do have an intervalometer & a nice tripod. thanks for the nice example. Mike
  • Replied in ISS...........
I was afraid you were going to say that..........I've been thinking about getting into one of the newer nikons with better shadow noise, but too invested in canon lenses at the moment. Not really ...

Your shot looks pretty "noise free", especially in the sky for such a long exposure (obviously longer than mine) What camera/sensor did you use?, and/or how did you deal with the noise? satellite ...

Not a great shot....just kind of fun, thought some here might enjoy it. I don't post in this forum often, but getting more interested in setting up an AP rig; a friend has been interested since he ...
  • I did see it, but chalked it up to high jpg compression.  Seen that before in images I've uploaded here & on pbase. Converted with less compression/higher quality & the "effect" went away.
  • Didn't that come out nice. Nice job on the lighting.............& camera choice :-) Mike
