For all those upset that the K-3 has enhanced video features compared to any predecessor, can you share how the removal of those features would have made this a better camera? Beyond "there are...

How is going from 16 MP to 24 MP (presumably) giving up still qualtiy? Do you think this rumored new AF system is going to be worse?
-
Thank you both very much. Perhaps where I get fuzzy (sic) on the subject is the concept of "in focus". I understand rough approximation based on not being able to distinguish a circle from a...
-
I know what it is conceptually. I know a picture with shallow depth of field versus one with deep depth of field. But how is it defined? I've seen some rough definitions based on circle of...

I don't think anyone's taking this as gospel... just a compilation of what he's written about this upcoming camera. TIFWIW.

It's not just the 5s... seems to be any iPhone under iOS 7. I guess that's the price to pay to get multi-shot bursts.
-
My recollection is the iPhone DID have a two-stage shutter button under iOS 6. First stage was touching the button icon and second stage (capturing the photo) was releasing your finger from the...

If you already own the DA 77 Ltd. then get the Pentax. That's the easiest question anyone will ask on this forum today. You won't regret it for a second.

Bob, this is an excellent suggestion. In fact, it's exactly what I did to get a better handle on the Pentax JPEG engine. I tried all kinds of variations of Bright, Natural, and Portrait in RAW+...

The most convenient comparison between 16 MP and 24 MP is the Nikon D7000/D7100. When I look at RAW images in the DPR Studio Comparison tool, I don't see any increase in noise with the D7100.
-
For JPEGs, I use Bright with -1 Saturation and 0 Contrast (default is +1). If you're shooting strong primary colors, better go -1 at least on EV as the sensor is going to clip -- something our...

What in the world does health care have to do with the price of a camera?
-
The K-3's major selling point isn't going to be a relatively minor sensor change. Ricoh could have done that and just called it the K-5 III. Seems the real change will be in other features of the...

Every time the image is copied from one website to another... wouldn't that cause a forensic degradation all by itself?
-
It's because a lot of people prefer flat view and quoting a post you're responding to is the only good way to keep it in context. Hope that helps. Agree about removing images.

For JPEGs, I use:
Bight
Saturation -1
Hi/Lo Key -1
Contrast 0 (default is +1)
I like it better than Natural as the reds and oranges are more accurate (to me) but everyone should try their own...

Apparently the differences in the HD versions were enough to cause a firmware change to the K-5 to "optimize" for whatever the functional difference may be.

As a cheerful Pentax owner, I must admit that when I do a head-to-head in DPR's studio comparison tool, I don't see where the E-M5 is noticeably behind Pentax's best. Sure, maybe it shows up in...
-
I don't think this aperture conversion stuff has much relevance. If you really are concerned about getting the minimum possible DOF, you choose a fast prime and not a zoom. Get a FF camera, too....
-
Seems to me the closest Pentax lens is the DA* 16-50 which is a bunch more money than the Oly zoom (granted I don't know what price some are charging on the DA* 16-50 if you call them up and ask...
