If using either on the D7100 the difference in sharpness may not be noticable, but the 70-200 should have faster AF and possibly better VR.  Microcontrast should also be better on the 70-200. On FF...

Yes for tripod, even for most daytime landscape shooting. Can you be more specific on your gear. jfk
