In reply to:

pacogwapo: anyways nikon is up there in the sky aboard the ISS.

Are you sure Nikons are good for astronomic shots ??

This is genuine question, cause I don't know.

I've been told that the Nikon clips shadows that is not very good for astrophotography. Whether it is still the case for their recent cameras, I don't know

Bit Too LATE...

Picasa (google photographic software) has done it since three years ago.

The wife loves it for dealing with her 5D2 results

HarrieD7000: What is the problem?
Not the selling party, but the buyer decides what he or she want to pay.
The market decides what the price will be. As soon as a seller does not sell his stock, he will lower the price. If his margin is to small he stops selling the article. The same will happen with Nikon. When in the coming weeks the selling from this cameras drop dramatically they will lower the price.
The professionals don't care what they pay, because they just add something on the price they are selling.

Yes, and the market goes to Amsterdam.

Buy from Amsterdam, it's still EU

And the flight is £30 return

SkyDreamer: UK friends, have a look at amazon.de, they ship anywhere in Europe and have normally better prices on the high tech items than the other Amazon shops. I buy from them despite I live in France, and I did very good deals.

Really. No custom duty inside EU. ?

That's brilliant info.

Thank's

Martyn McMad: Thanks, Nikon, I'll stick to my D300 a wee while longer. I have a feeling of utter disappointment at being totally shafted !

It's only Nikon UK.

It says:
"Nikon UK has also confirmed to us that this price rise will only affect customers in the UK and Irish markets - other regions are not affected."

Thank's for the info. I am not sure about custom duty tax. Maybe for EU there is no custom duty.

Another way is to fly to Amsterdam, the ticket is only £20 return.

No need to book a hotel.

Fly in the morning, shoot shoot shoot in the evening.

Atlasman: Is Nikon making room for a lower end model?

Does this tell something: "Nikon UK has also confirmed to us that this price rise will only affect customers in the UK and Irish markets - other regions are not affected"

John Walshe (Nikon UK manager) is trying to scoop pundsterlings from your pocket to target his annual bonuses. I know that trick, I am a manager too.
How would he explain that it's cheaper in EU.

Anyway.
I will buy from Amsterdam
I've seen flight to Amsterdam-return is so cheap

Duty tax is free if it's for "your own usage". (take some pictures with it)
Just fold the box flat in your suitcase.

Dpr not precise :) With off centre tripod mount you might get sensor shift when making panorama on tripod. Though I don't know how bad it is
