Nikon is the genius, the trend-setter, the leader.. if not for Nikon, Canon's IDX would be retailing for $10K!!!! f;ing nuts you f'ers. Now Nikon creates the "retro" camera... "Camera"... not a video thinger... Though many may argue that they are the same, they are spectators, don't know the real crap... Nikon is truly re-defining "photography" again... not dropping the challenges that video plays, but obviously challenging "photography" back into it's origins.

Bravo Nikon! You still rule! You know it's not just technology, faster, better, etc.... It's the heart and soul! Rock On...

I don't have the D800, yes, the file size scares the crap out of me... My CPU can crawl dealing with with the 16MP from my D4... D800 no way... thought of the D600, or now D610, maybe,... supposedly, higher picture quality...

Df??... none of the above... you are PURE ART! Thank G I still have my old but incredible Nikon lenses!!!! However will I buy you? no, you are meant for the distinguished...

Designport: I can't understand: the samples are just not to compare, because the focus is not realy carfuly set. For example: The samples from the Canon 50D are much sharper in the background then those from the Canon 5D mark lll. In the foreground, of corse, the 5D mark lll is sharper but what will thiss mean to me? That the point of sharpness (focus) is not on the same distance. And what else? That this tests are useless. Or can that someone explane to me?
My english is bad but my eyes are ok :-)

it's an ISO comparison. Not MP or sharpness.

ChanKane: Oh, and for those that say "Do we need" 36 megapixels... obviously no... all we "need" is food and shelter... However, is it cool to have 36 megapixels? hell yah! take a picture of Diamond Head and zoom in to find the mongoose... or cockroach...

Once the new processor get a new bump in power (2x), the D4 will probably go 36 megapixels too...

I understand change is hard. But if technology is not moving forward, it IS moving backwards... Canon will surpass 36mp's one day...

IMO... D4 rules the high ISO game, yes beats the 1D Mark4 too...

Those that are comparing the D800 in the ISO game don't seem to get it. Nikon used all that processing power into the high megapixel game... Not the high iso game...

Best ISO: D4 (yes, Nikon is still king of low-light)
Best MegaPixels: D800 (now Nikon is king of megapixels)

Best ISO for the buck: 5DMark3 (Canon's a pretty good value)
Best Megapixel for the buck: D800 (hope your lower jaw landed on a clean spot)

Best fps: I think it's the 1DX... Canon (can't people just shoot video?)

I'm not doing any Nikon/Canon "battles"... I have respect for both, but my lenses are all Nikon... I just picked up a bunch of 40 year old lenses (60's and 70's), and guess what? They are hell of fun to shoot with!! Kung-Fu Lenses. ;)
