SeeRoy: An old friend who is the head of photography at a very large international NGO (they shoot Canon, mainly) bought the earlier version as it seemed to "tick all the boxes" (ugh) for a lightweight camera to issue for non-critical assignments. It didn't take them long to realise the camera was over-hyped and generally unsatisfactory on many counts. Now there's an "improved" version. We just keep falling for the same old marketing swindles.
X100S is amazing camera: I made some videos by using Fujifilm X100S, if you get time see my videos, here are links:

Ybor: Fuji makes wonderful mirrorless cameras that have some funky quirky issues. They are better than Sony mirrorless line from my ownership and usage of both in past several years.
make sure you have a warranty because you may need it with a Fuji X camera. After saying this I say that the X100S is a useless model when you have the X-E1 and lens selection.
No no X100S can not be useless camera, indeed it is great camera. You can say that you are not comfortable with fix lens, so for you X-E1 is perfect.
I agree with you. I made some videos by using Fujifilm X100S, if you get time see my videos, here are links:
iRadio07: I have used the X100 for the last two years mostly for B&W. I have since 3 monthes the X100s and I am very pleased with the X-Trans sensor, the results in B&W (raw + LR4) are quite outstanding . The X100s for B&W photographers is clearly a "monochrome" camera alternative !

bluevellet: A lot of cons for a gold award.
Once you will use it you will come to know why GOLD has been given! You can see my work, I posted links. Have a nice day!

I am proud owner of Fujifilm X100, and I am using it since last two years, I have a had privilege to use X100S for 15 days, and I really love this new X100S, I now do not like old X100.
I have gone through with your review two times now and I am fully convinced, this is great review, it is deep review! Now I would like to let you know guys that, I am interested to use X100S' video function, I really like videos created by X100S, yes of course we can not have videos like Panasonic GH2 (I own Panasonic GH2), but for me I found videos are not bad, it really produce decent videos. I made some videos by using Fujifilm X100S, if you get time see my videos, here are links:
Hi! Greetings! This is Kaushik Parmar from Ahmedabad (India). I am regular visitor of DPReview. I am a huge fan of Fujifilm and I was waiting for your review on X100S, and finally I fond it today, so much exited! And I am glad you guys give "Gold Award" and X100S deserve it, well done Fujiflm!
I really enjoyed this extensive review, so much hard work you guys have done and full marks to all if you guys, keep it up!
Haydaristan: HOWABOUTRAW, That's what you wanne believe. Why does Hasselblad not use Zeis lenses anymore in the digital domain? It's all Fujinon so what you are saying is like Hasselblad made the wrong choice.A rolls royce with a wrong engine? I don't think so.Are these colors not good? They could have been using Zeiss, Leica or maybe Schneider Kreuznach.Fujinon is a leader in hospital equipment as well and makes very good lenses which are being used on pro cameras with soccer matches and about the Nissan Gt-r.That Nissan and Renault work together doesn't mean that it is a modified Renault. It's a pure Nissan car, a further developed Skyline with a Nissan engine.Jesus it's like me am working for Fujinon and Nissan. Wish I had a Gt-R.Take care.
I made some videos with my X100:
Tee1up: I hope DP does a review update...I really want this camera to work but I don't want a $1200 ulcer.
@alffastar, yes indeed focus is big problem, X100 has much limitation in video department. If object & camera both are steady then result is good, but if you keep camera in auto focus mode and move camera then forget to have good result, why Fujifilm is not taking care of this issue, otherwise this camera could have been great in video too!
@ alffastar, I am proud owner of X100 and using it since last one year, it is indeed great camera, F2 lens is very sharp, IQ is amazing, I do have Panasonic GH2 but it is worst in terms of still but in video it is top class, however Fuji X100 is great in video department too, Fujifilm should have given more attention to video department, and 1080p would have been great, Fuji X100 is capable to capture great video in low light better than GH2, well GH2 would be great in F2 lens but this Fuji X100 is amazing in video particularly in low light, I hope Fujifilm will give more attention to its video department, Fujifilm gives great colors!
Polyfem: Advice would be appreciated. I'm about to choose a new camera, and after thorough examination of mirrorless candidates, I have narrowed the field down to Fuji's X 100 and the X Pro 1. I was photographing a lot with SLRs in the old film days - left photographing for many years, but now I am very interested again. I love the direct control of the parametres aperture & shutter, secondly focus and ISO, and those Fujis seem both right for me. Evidently, after reading the numerous reviews, the X Pro 1 would be the "right" choice, but in spite of it beating the X 100 on every scale, I can't help being drawn to the sophisticated simplicity of the X 100. The thought of having to use a fixed 35 mm (equivalent) doesn't scare, since it's classic and very versatile. But will I - after all - miss the opportunity to change lenses?
Please, let me know what you have experienced in using your X 100s.
Thanks in advance!
I am proud owner of X100, it is a great camera. The F2 fix lens gives very high quality images. The focus system has some problem but you would be okay, it requires more attention, my Panasonic GH2 has great accurate focus, but IQ of X100 is amazing! The build quality of X100 is excellent, it look great while you hold on your hand. Frankly speaking I would love to upgrade my X100 to X Pro 1 but it is an expensive, I think if you do not have budget problem then you should buy X Pro1, which is better than X100 and many other cameras in the market.
Camp Freddy: Great price revision! Beats Nik 1 system hands down: look nik fanbois "f 2- 2.6" APSC.....size is good, EVF /combo worth putting on a camera.
Also it doens't look like somethign out of Buck Rogers or Battle Star Galatica like the V1.
surfingringo: The reviewer mentioned more than once that the x10 offers a shallower dof than a dslr with kit lens. Is this correct!? I dont know how to calculate that, but it doesnt sound right. I know that kit zooms are slow but an aps-c sensor is sooo much bigger it thought they would still be capable of a shallower dof than this fuji. If the reviewer is correct in this I think you can sign me up! Appreciate some confirmation of this by anyone in the know!
I have X100 and I am fully convinced with X100. It is stunning performer. I would like to buy this X10 also I am big fan of Fujifilm.
I am surprise that shallow effect from X100 is amazing, there is no zoo in X100 and you need to stay closer to the object more you come close more blure effect you will get. It is amazing video in X100 though it 720p but still it is stunning performance, if you have time see my one of this video: http://vimeo.com/29685181
X10 would be really good in video mode I am sure.
