Thanks Stephen for sharing that helpful info. If I get a pic worth sharing I will post it. I think good black and white photography is a special skill all of its own. The post processing can be...

I am really enjoying my A57 and find new capabilities within it each time I use it. Perhaps a naive question but would you please tell me the settings you used to get these great high contrast b&w...

When I return I will try to pull that off. Thanks!HR

Thanks very much for the suggestions. I agree stopping down and lowering the ISO would be very helpful. Eager to go back and take another shot at it for comparison, who knows might even take the...

Those are excellent points. Admit I was playing with the settings and lost track a bit of Iso and Dof. Both would help! I do think I over sharpened as well. I know it is a double-edged sword!HR

Roughly the same shot in color.

Good point, guess that could apply to the limbs on both sides.HR

Thanks very much to each of you. I think its time to pull the trigger. I would actually be moving from a PEN ep-3 that I could just never quite get comfortable with, esp. no built-in EVF. Was...

Thanks Rombo. Due to the demise of local camera stores I cannot check one out in person so to speak but many reviews seem to rate the G5 very favorably and I like its DSLR form factor. May have to...

Perhaps a crazy question but here goes: I have been considering buying a G5 and have done lots of homework. Today I see it is deeply discounted at trustworthy online retailers. Is this just a...

Very good shots, very sharp and nicely composed. Would have to say you and the D5100 did a good job.

Thanks very much. It seems that Aperture 3 could be a nearly all in one solution to this issue. Also will start work on Mountain Lion.HR

Thanks very much. I will definitely check it out, sounds great.HR

Thanks. There is a software update for 10.6.8 to accept e-p3 raw files but not with iphoto 9 so it is a catch-22. Time to upgrade all-around I guess. For some reason though Lion scares me.HR
