Many photographs at the time many were posed, faked or edited. Just like today's.
Capa is a 'big' name and his work has been questioned long before anyone here was born. No one does question if he took it but questions where and when and quite frankly it makes no difference what you believe or do not believe, it is not important.
english_Wolf: Well, this shows that all the suckers who went for this 'famed' 'phone camera' got suckered into an early buy while the company kept developing it...
As to the quality of that thing? Possibly better than the others but I doubt it if the sensor size and pixels are not there in the first place. Extrapolation is the mortal enemy of any decent photographer and that even before we speak of the 'lens'.
All the gizmos that take picture at the moment are not in par with a good 'old' (did I really type that??) digital camera.
I do not have enough thumbs to give the true opinion I have of these things.
I compare what is comparable.
If you tout a 41mb sensor, I compare it to a 36MB sensor like that of the D800.
When throwing numbers of this type you intentionally mislead your suckers (clients) into thinking you get the best the word can offer (beside pro cameras) so, one should not be surprised that other 'photographers' get seriously annoyed. I know, I am.

Well, I took 'the challenge' to look at the little girl move...
First typical propaganda, highly contrasted subject vs drab background, not a 'real life' example if you ask me then....
Whatever replaced the child left her shape clearly visible in both the bushes, the grass and the dirt... NOT GOOD at all.
If I could post a detailed image in return that would help but DPR does not allow this... So....
Steve oliphant: Pixel mator rules for the price works really well with apture and iPhoto gives you layers and texted very weak points of Apture and iPhoto .
Idiotix remarc freom the gramar/spileang poliss
The pooch is dying....
Real trouble is that if one does not backup his or her files into a generic format one loses everything if for whatever reason the access is terminated.
So? USE GIMP!
Well, this a flag for that says: Expensive stuff 'rob me!!!'
I have an old decrepit back pack that does everything from carrying a 17" laptop to my cameras and lenses w/o advertising what is inside.
I love the do it all thingies, especially when they really do nothing!
Sorry but I leave my gear in the hotel and take the strict minimal when I go out: I have no need to carry anything that will never be used on the field.
The truth? You cannot handle it!!(Quote from some movie)
comet suisei: The American can do whatever they want, the blame the rest of the world for everything but.. who cares?
Yeah, the US is always the evil doer.
WWI and WWII anyone? (j/k)
2 parts post...
What I would like to know is why some folks here are complaining at all.
I have used google to find my images and check WHO IS USING THEM.
Essentially, a thieves detection at it's best.
You don't want to see your stuff on google?
Use robot.txt of your website. ( http://www.robotstxt.org/robotstxt.html )Use 'nofollow' parameter ( http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=96569 ) Oops google is useful again!!!Use private sites no open to the public
If you cannot do either (yeah, right) use the following according to your level of paranoia:
Who the hell cares?- Post a link to your RAW file
Very little concern:- Lower the quality to 72 dpi- Use EXIF
Somewhat concerned:- All the above PLUS- - Lower the size to that of a postage stamp when printed- - Discretely Watermark the image
Concerned:- All the above PLUS- - Use visible watermark DIAGONALLY ACROSS the image, not on the sides- - Warn viewer of copyright enforcement
Obsessive:- All the above PLUS- - Only post in private sites that you own (use robot.txt)- - Password protect your site access- - Purchase a software that splits your image(s) into several randomly named images and post them for you (up to 3000 pieces)
Sickness- Do not connect your computer or any device to the internet
If someone does not get the joke within the real information, take a deep breath.
D1N0: This works great for previewing pics. Great development. And it's free!
D1N0, actually when theft takes place when an image is used without authorization and claiming the copyright to it.
Google does neither, quite the contrary, it can be used to find the thieves.
Bluebird47: It's illegal. Even with your company-friendly laws in the US, I'd bet this is not covered by "fair use", seeing how strictly a non-commercial entity like Wikipedia guards the use of such material. And now, suddenly, a big ad-financed company can just hotlink the full versions of people's copyrighted material without any downsizing and still call that "fair use"? I think not.
I do not see how it is illegal, at all. There is no claim of ownership. If you post something on a public site (like DPReview) the image is available to all. The so-called 'hot link' bring you to the original site where YOU posted the images for public consumption.
If you are unhappy with your stuff being on the public eye, don't post on free-for-all sites or at the very least, reduce the quality to 72DPI and reduce the printing size to a postal stamp.
My vote is for the 800e.
Just found the money to purchase it within a month... What held me back was the lack of user feedback, the novelty and the missing $$$ to get the FX lenses.
What convinced me was it was narrowly beat by a Hasselblad (spelling) but had better results in the blacks...
Bummer about my DX lenses that I will be selling with my 300... Then again, I do not believe I will return to the DX format.
PhotoPoet: quick question... those of you with Nikon D7000 or other "large" DSLR's that have switched...Understanding that there are differences... Do you miss your old companion?
On the topic at hand...
I agree that a popular vote shows anything but the real picture.
How many have the camera they vote for?How many vote due to a bias toward or against something else?
The true picture is in the number of unit sold, during the same period, meaning when the first camera came out then six months later then a year later. That would give a real picture that could reveal:
1) Brand/model expectation (hype value 1)2) Popularity over time (increasing/decreasing value 4)3) Number of cameras sold over a full year (value 5)
Giving a different quotient value to each of the three, starting with #3 and creating an average would give a truer reflection of between what is 'popular' and what is really used.
Gary Sibio: I have a paid-for copy of 6.0 and want to upgrade to 6.1 but I can't find a link anywhere for upgrading. Ho do I do this?
And, eh, oh, there is a setting that allows the PRG to look for upgrades, if any.
Menu- Help - Check for update and messages)
Dave: Once ACDsee Pro6 is purchased and the prograpm dopwnloaded, how many different computers that one owns, do they allow you to install the program on, with the Lic code they provide upon purchase?
If only a couple of licenses, I do not beleive the company will give you a deal. If you are looking at 10 or more, that maybe different (volume licensing).
You may want to call their sales reps. There is very little wait and no endless bounce from menu to menu.
Scroll down, the link has been posted.
