dagobah: This is sad. And I really don't get the harpies crowing over their market pullback, since fewer companies and less choice is bad for consumers. While I never owned Samsung gear, I thought they had their act together and I was very impressed when trying out their latest cameras (NX500, NX Mini).
Samsung entered the digital photography market in a partnership with Pentax, rebadging the Pentax K10D and K20D as Samsung GX-10 and GX-20, and making their own version of K-mount lenses. Then they disappeared from that partnership and developed the NX line. It looked good to me, basically a well-made and well-thought-out APS-C mirrorless system. I guess the shrinking camera market really didn't allow for another mirrorless APS-C line, and Sony had already grabbed that space (with a few crumbs left to Fuji).
No.... Nx cameras where the first apsc mirrorless. They just failed to take the market seriously. When they finally did it was just too little too late. The should have took advantage of schneider kreuznach branding and made great lenses(like Sony has with Zeiss). But they failed in that one aspect. It was a big aspect... When people think of Sony A7 they think out the great Zeiss lenses it has(a lot of them being class leaders)
I think all mirrorless should just stop selling cameras. Just let canon and Nikon continue with there stagnant trend. The market has spoken. Mirrorless cameras are not something the market is interested in.
caver3d: Okay, so when is the fire sale for the NX1? I'll help them out with their sales, if they cut the price. So will you.
Kinda of like Sony A mount...
Alright! Time to close the Samsung forum! Done and done
People better start selling off their nx gear before Samsung makes an official statement saying they are leaving the market. Price will go from $1100 for an nx1 to $500 overnight.
Yep, I'd buy an nx1, 16-50S, 30, 45, 85mm and 50-150S for $500! It would be a great kit for how ever long it lasted.
JKP: Full frame EOS 6D costs less than $1100 in some places. I would pick it up before any APC-C cameras in the same price range.
The original A7 can also be had for that cheap....
Combatmedic870: How can you judge cameras you have not reviewed(gx8 and k3mk2). They both should be omitted in this round up. With out a review to support your "facts" this is all just baseless conjecture. After you post a review supporting these facts then add them or redo this round up. Until then, this round up is currently meaningless.
Are you getting you facts from other reviews? Care to name a source from which you came up with the information? If it's from your review. Perhaps you should post it. There is no way to know where this information has come from. We don't know if you've handled this cameras in depth enough to AF speed. Your preview just states the gx8 is at least as fast as the G7. Do you just feel it's at least as fast??? I mean the GX8 I'm sure feels "at least" as fast as my oly XZ-1....
I mean without a percentage rating or an award how am I supposed to know what camera is best for me. *flips over desk*. I've had it! This has just gone too far! Blasphemy! *drops mic and steps away from soap box*
I did not. I even read the preview. That's where I got the at least as fast quote. Once you get to the above $1000 cameras more is expected. I'm saying you should have held off on this until you posted the review. Sure we can compare iso and IQ. But there's no way to compare anything else.

turvyT: How can dpreview make a judgment on cameras thay have not reviewed, like Lumix GX8 or Pentax k3? Do they judge them based on other publications reviews? On intuition? On old iterations?
I agree. They both should be omitted in this round up. With out a review to support your "facts" this is all just baseless conjecture. After you post a review supporting these facts. This round up is meaningless.
What much better, upgraded cameras are there!?!? it's newer vs gh4, xt-1, A6000, Em-1. It's literally the newest high end camera apsc camera!!
If the nx series gets discontinued. I'll grab one on fire sale along with the 16-50, 45mm, 85mm, 50-150 on the cheap.
Combatmedic870: I really like and want the lx100. But QC issues that plague the lens of the camera really throws me off. I just don't want to have to take a chance of getting one with a decentered lens. Also I dont want to feel the need to baby the camera, to keep from messing up the lens. If you out it into a coat pocket the chances of it running into something are high with it unzipped.
The RX100 mkVI is just stupid expensive.
Uhhhhh....the lx100 isn't THAT big. If I can fit my fuji XE-2 in my coat pocket I'm sure the lx100 would fit as well. I don't know what kind of costs your wearing but in the Pacific Northwest, we wear coats that can take the rain and wind. So that means in all likelihood a northface, Columbia or Arc'teryx. All have nice sized pockets....stop being weird.
What other pocket would you prefer me to put it in? My cargo pocket? It would still run into things. I put my xz-1 in my coat all the time. Hence why I know it would run into things.
Combatmedic870: Hopefully soon we will see, compact 1" sensor Compacts with a fast 24-120/140 lenses (I'm talking about you fuji x40!!)
No...it's really not. If they had put a higher grade lens and faster AF it would do. But the lens is WAAAAY to compromised. Also the AF is nowhere near the competition. I've used the Canon g7x, lx100 and rx100mk4 side by side and the lx100 has the faster AF with the RX100 slightly behind. The Canon wasn't in the same league.
The build of the Canon g7x was good though.

Fotoke: Canon S120 is included, but Panasonic DMC-LF1 is not? Why?
Both S120 and LF1 were in the high-end pocketable compacts roundup last year. The LF1 was even chosen as best affordable high-end pocketable camera. It offers more zoom than the S120. It's still available.
The s120 shouldn't have been included....
straylightrun: Should have included Sony HX90V.
It was already in a round up. Plus....it wouldn't have barely been a footnote among these cameras in this round up. It doesn't even shoot raw. It's like having a toddler(hx90v) walking up to Olympic lifters(lx100/rx100mk4) in the gym and asking them..."Do you even lift bro?!?". While the toddler flexes. Just not on the same level.

They were the first to bring mirror less APSC to the market....now first to leave. :"""""(They just refused to put an EVF on their rangefinder models. The nx500 would have sold 2x more with a EVF.
