Thanks for your comments. I was inspired from charcoal drawing of the 70's. It would be interesting to see this technique carved onto a pumpkin, it may be good challenge.

Placed 6^th in the challenge. Inspired by E. Weston's use of highlights, tone and shadows with organic items.

An interesting challenging challenge.

Placed 76^th in the challenge. Self-portrait converted from color. CS5-PS to use high contrast, then processed using low contrast to create the 'gray' tone. Also applied curves and some noise to simulate a charcoal-like drawing. The texture isn't as smooth as I'd like to be.

Placed 72^nd in the challenge. Originally captured in color. In CS5 I used a combination of curves, levels and contrast to the extreme and wanted to emulate a 'pen & ink' type of image. In Central Park (NYC), this unique tree no longer exists.
