@tonywong, Nat geo guys are using lenses like these in places like that, but IMO they're doing it so they don't miss a shot while changing lenses, not so they don't drop the lens while swapping it....

Anyone shooting a 3.6kg, 36cm long lens hand-held, wearing gloves, on a moving vessel, with the lens unsecured by even a strap, frankly deserves to drop it in the ocean.
