Big disappointment as i was ready to move from DSLR to MFT...A new body with an older sensor...same as Canon recycling years after years it's 18 MPIX sensor on various bodies... What's wrong with these brands and their policies of "minimum innovation" will wait for the new Olympus bodies coming shortly and decide to make the move or not !!

I was wondering if a new investment in this P&S camera was a good idea as a back-up camera, well yes it is !! superb IQ,razor sharp images, small, light, easy to use, overall operations much quicker than the older generations ( i had the G10 which was VERY slow) and fixed screen which is what i was looking for !! small sensors can be damn good these days ! forget the boring "blah blah" that has decided as a common rule that small sensor are bad, bigger sensor are much better...I will enjoy this camera and probably use it more often than my dslr gear...

Samsung makes good electronics but i will never buy their cameras as i do not trust the reliability of their products, they are too young on this specific market ! And small sensors have no future as more and more people wants better I.Q on compact & bridges cameras ...brands start to wake up to this market reality !

What a bad born camera !!... Instead of launching new rebel models every year with minor improvements from one model to the other, Canon would better concentrate on real improvements and launch fewer models... I'm happy with my T2i and will wait to replace it at least until the T5i arrives if there is no bug... Cheers !

Will keep my "old" T2i/550D as nothing justify to move to this latest Rebel body... Might invest in the coming Canon mirrorless system as a 2nd camera if specs are good ( you never know with Canon....) Keep in touch !

Canon slow innovation makes me keep my 550D/T2i still for a while and rather invest in the coming Canon mirrorless body if it's worth or Olympus EM-5 which is so far the best mirorrless product ever !!

Considering Canon's market position, this is not good enough. No innovation, no development, no moving forward. It is a lazy, cynical and very conservative effort by Canon IMO.
Considering Canon's HUGE market dominance I am surprised people here are not holding Canon to a higher standard than this.
Absolutely right ! As slow as the latest G series... As a Canon user over the last 30 years, i'm seriously considering moving to Olympus latest OM-D to replace my Canon DSLR"Rebel" & G10 compact photo equipment !

IS on the 24 & 28 mm is a marketing trap to sell at higher price...we don't need IS on these light primes ! Still expecting the long awaited 35mm f/2 renewal WITHOUT IS !!! Come on Canon move again !

Even Ricoh moves to APS-C sized sensor with their GXR zoom module (in 2012),Sony did it already with their ultimate & excellent Nex series, so i'm very sorry to say that small sensors deliver bad to average IQ...I will never come back to these bridge cameras since my disappointing experience with the Leica V-Lux 2 few months ago !!

Such a big camera with such a small sensor (even twice bigger than the average compact cameras) will NEVER deliver good IQ !! Fuji should have put a larger sensor such as the one in the X100 to offer DECENT IQ...this new product is a complete joke !!

If there is no roadmap for smaller lenses to go along with this "baby DSLR", this brand new camera is USELESS !!
I totally agree with this shortlist !

Does Canon mean Video products & other brands still interested in making REAL CAMERAS TO TAKE SNAPSHOTS ??...
What a weird world we are livin' in !
topstuff: Ordinary sensor.
Ordinary IQ.
Slow lens.
Nothing to get excited about.
