Saintsman: OMG! How much for the new 600EX-RT, I think Canon are doing the right thing here having radio ttl speedlites but I think the cost will put most pro's off swaping from their old 580EX's and Pocket wizards!
The cost for me to move over would be mad!!!!

3 600EX-RT @ £680
1 ST-E3-RT @ £310

Total = £2350! to upgrade is mad

Oh yeh and the new 5D mark III @ £3000! on top, the list could go on as Canon have new 24-70 and 70-200 lenses as well!
Who will move over at that price! not me!
My PW's and 580EX's work fine the only good news this week is the Lightroom 4 is now half the price of the old Lightroom 3, about time as Aperture is only £55 from the App store?

Minus what you sell your current system for. I sold my 580II for the same price I paid for it.

FYI. I now have my ST-E3-RT and 600EX-RT and when used together the 600EX-RT focus assist is illuminated.

BTW, I also love that you can use the slaves (600EX-RT and ST-E3-RT) on remote cameras to trigger all shutters at the same time. "Remote shooting". Really cool system.

I'll venture a guess that when these are finallly tested and the shutter button is pressed half way to focus that the ST-E3-RT sends a signal to your flashes to turn on their focus assist.

I'm also going to guess that a 430 version will be released that will also receive radio signals.

I'll also guess that they will introduce a radio receiver for your existing flashes that is compatible with your older flashes.

I'm going to think outside of the box of what is available right now.

BTW, IMO the ST-E2 had the build quality of a 3rd party.
